Chapter Fourteen
Besides the run in with Megan, our day had been really good. So good, that I was moving our things into Oratio’s room. I once again pushed Zeno into the bathroom, except the one connected to Oratio’s – I mean our new – room as I unpacked everything. I had run a bath for my little kitten, he hadn’t had one before. I think that he will enjoy living here, sometimes having to constantly move can take its toll really hard on our children.
I had just finished putting the last of our clothing into the drawers and closet, when the door opened suddenly with a bang. I spun myself around quickly and instinctively assumed a defensive position. When I saw who had barged into the room, I was genuinely pleased that I had put Zeno in a bath, rather than getting him to shower. I stood facing a pissed looking Megan.
Unfortunately, I don’t think her wrath could hold a toothpick against mine. I was seriously sick of her and the way she was acting around my son. She squealed as she noticed me glaring at her. “What are you doing here, bitch?!” She snarled at me “This is Oratio’s room. Are you snooping around to see if you could find something that you could bring back to your dirty rouge friends?”
“Actually, this is mine and Oratio’s room. So if you don’t mind, I’d really appreciate it if you removed yourself from it. I know it’ll be difficult to push your fat ass back through the doorway, but if you try hard enough I know you’ll manage.” I replied emotionlessly.
“You stupid bitch. You think you’re all that, don’t you? Well let me straighten it out for you, you stupid stray.” For the love of bacon, can’t she think of anything better to call me other then stupid? “Oratio is mine, and this pack will soon be mine too, so you’d better leave or I’ll make life hell for you.” She whispered into my ear, attempting to be intimidating.
I just continued to smirk over her shoulder. “Really? Because I had this odd feeling that Oratio thinks the exact opposite of what you do.”
Her eyes widened in surprise as she whirled around to face a furious looking Oratio and now she looks like a toad. Doesn’t this girl know how ugly she is?! “What did you just say to my mate?” He snarled at Megan, as she cowered in the doorway. She didn’t reply, so he growled low and deep, causing her to run out of the room in a hurry.
“Eww, Oreo. Look! She pissed herself.” I wrinkled my nose at the trail of liquid that had started just outside of our door and linked to where Megan was now. “I’m not cleaning that up, you know. You made her do it so you can clean it up.” My words quickly wiped the smile from his face.
“But, thanks for saving me from the wicked witch of the west” I mock swooned and then ran up to him and kissed him on the cheek, just as Zeno walked out of the bathroom dressed in his pyjamas.
“Mummy I’m done now, it’s time for mummy and daddy to have the bathroom.” He smiled at us. Although Zeno was still very young, he understood that his parents weren’t fighting anymore. I knew he wanted us to be a family just as much as I did. But it would only work as long as Oratio continued to be a proper father to the little one. No matter how much I loved the tingles I got from Oratio when we touched, or the feeling in my stomach from when he would speak to me. None of it mattered if my son wasn’t safe.
“Don’t you want mummy and daddy to tuck you into bed first, so that you can sleep sooner and then we can have more fun tomorrow.” I asked him, and I watched as he seemed to ponder the idea.
“Yeah, okay.” He nodded his head and Oratio chuckled. Because Oratio was in line to become the next Alpha, his room connected into a nursery. These wolves didn’t like messing around. They made sure to encourage... baby making... as much as they possibly could. “Can daddy tuck me in tonight?” Zeno questioned us and I nodded in reply.
