Chapter 21

~*~*~* Cerys’ POV ~*~*~*

Oh mother of bacon. Why is there so many people? I felt as though names were being shoved down my throat. It was almost as bad as being thrust into a class for upper level biology, when you didn’t even know where your heart was in your body. All of this information, and I was simply drowning in it.

Can this day get any worse? I couldn’t get myself to feel comfortable around the sheer mass of people that I had been thrust into, each of them asking me when the wedding was, or when Oratio and I were going to add into our family. Some of them asked more personal things, like ‘where are your parents?’ ‘Why did you run away?’ ‘what’s your favourite band?’ ‘what’s your highest level of education’

I know that most of the questions were asked nicely, or in wonder of where the pack was going and how secure it was going to be in the future, but it was just so difficult to answer all of the questions, one after the other. Like the families that you have in movies, I had an Aunt running over to me and pinching my cheeks, asking me about my boyfriend and telling me how much I’ve grown… Only there were at least 20 of those kinds of people at this barbie.

Hey sis! I’m giving you about a half hour warning, I’ll be at Oratio’s rents’ house in about that time. Clyde’s voice rang through my head a few minutes later. Ooooohhh sweet strawberry cake. I had to go and jinx it, didn’t I? I almost kicked myself in the arse, from my sudden superstition. If only I could have avoided him showing up at that time by not wondering if my day could get any worse.

Oratio… Clyde’s going to be here in half an hour. I spoke calmly to him through our private mind link, I could already feel some of the other pack members’ thoughts coming through to me. That meant that many of them were already accepting me into their extended family.

Don’t freak out. We’ll have this sorted okay. I’ll tell the others that he’s not to be attacked, and then you can get him at the door and we’ll introduce him as your visiting brother.

That’s the thing, we both know that he’s going to be here for an extended period of time, and he doesn’t sound like he’s alone. Some of the other pack members might attack him because of that. I know he’s a dickhead outright, and a drongo the rest of the time. But he’s still my brother, and I don’t know if this is the best for him.

Well, then. That’s his fault for coming here if he can’t deal with the other members, isn’t it? His voice was grim as he replied to me solemnly. I suppose he was right, but I didn’t have a chance to argue my point across because he blocked me out after that. I suppose he was going to be yelled at by the others in command, and I know that he wouldn’t want me to hear that.

I should probably warn Clyde-bear-poo too. Clyde, I have some bad news and some good news. Which one would you like to hear first? I called out to him and I could sense his surprise, I hadn’t done this before. He probably didn’t know that I could contact him without him prompting me.

Uh, bad news. Then you can make me happy again by telling me the good news.

Okay, well the bad news is you picked a horrible time to show up. Oratio is introducing me to the pack and so everyone is here, in the backyard. You won’t be able to get away with avoiding them all, and there’s at least 200 people here.

I have to meet all of them? You’re not going to introduce me as a new member are you… Wait, he’s only just introducing you to the pack?

I know, I know. But we can talk about that later. The good news is that they’ll all know that you’re here, and so it’ll be easier for you to stay in the house with us. The other good news is that I’m pregnant again too.
