Hello everyone! Welcome - it's been awhile since finishing up his little protector - I took a mini break even tho I simply stressed about writing the whole time. I have decided to focus on masked royalty and only this for a little while. There's two books I want to bring back eventually but for now I'm putting my attention on this one!:)
Kyson's pov:
"I wanna take you to the ocean one day." He whispered. I raised an eyebrow, taken aback by his gentleness. It was out of the ordinary for him.
His mask was inches away on the counter - giving me the perfect opportunity to examine his beautiful jawline and defined features."Oh yeah?"
"Yes...I see the ocean when I look into your eyes, darling." He spoke softly.
A small smile appeared on my face. "O-okay."
He dipped down nervously. I could feel his breath inches away from my face. There was a quiet voice in the back of my head.
We've made progress - he's going to kiss me. This is it.I slowly fluttered my eyes as I felt his breath against my lips - the sparks were flying between us.
It was a floating pleasurable sensation. I couldn't dream about this feeling.
Yet here I was, living in it.
A sudden loud voice burst through the room, making Achilles jump backward. I watched as he flinched, covering his face quickly.
"Hey, Ky-"Fuck...
My face burned bright red as I awkwardly glanced at the ground and backed up.
My sister stood in the doorframe - frozen in place before snapping out of it.
A red blush covered her cheeks.
"Our uhm parents want to speak to you..." she stuttered.
Achilles gave me a dark annoyed glance as he grabbed his mask, storming out of the room - suddenly, the air was tense and different from the warm, welcoming feeling I felt close to him.
"S-sorry-" my sister began. I quickly cut her off, not wanting to hear it.
"Save it - it's not your fault," I mumbled, slightly annoyed, before storming into my father's office, already angered.
I took a deep breath - attempting to calm myself down as I was already frustrated.
When I opened the door, I could tell the feeling was mutual because my father interlocked his hands with his elbows resting on his desk.
"Sit." He ordered - I quickly sat down, following his instructions.
"Kyson, you know the argent ball is coming up, and your mother and I just don't think Achilles staying here till then is a good idea - we want him gone."
I froze."I-"
"Kyson...we know it seems something is with this man, but he's just too dangerous." My mom cut me off as I stuttered.
"No! You don't understand...there's something i-it has to be magic." My dad's eyebrows raised.
"Son! You're a Royal. That's impossible. We're under the protection of some of the strongest witches and warlocks in Argenton." His voice grew louder, making me want to cringe.
It was near impossible for me to speak up against my father. I glanced at my mom, who gave me compassionate eyes.
"Please, mother...there's something there," I whispered, practically begging her to help me.
"We've made it this far without any damage..."
"What about the prisoners! We went under attack! You're lucky that in this kingdom, I spent years! Centuries building a powerful army of protection was able to get under control quickly. But what a coincidence if it happened just after he arrived..." my father's eyes burned with anger.
"Your father is just worried about his kingdom - keeping a wanted felon that we know nothing about could damage our community." My mother whispered, grasping my hands. As tears brimmed my eyes
"We're going to report him. You're taking over soon - you have other responsibilities you'll need to focus on."
"No!" I shouted, standing up. "Please! Just give me a little more time. What will it take for you guys to let him stay?"
"Sit down!" My father ordered. "You're a naive child! No one knows anything about him! We've given you the chance to learn more about him; you failed to do that! You don't even know his real name!" My father slammed a tan file on his desk, making me cringe.
My cheeks burn with embarrassment and humiliation being shouted at by my father.
The air was heavy as I was trying my best not to hyperventilate."You're going to focus on taking over our kingdom! And ruling with the proper authorities with you!"
"Ky baby - you haven't even found your queen yet. That's a necessity of ruling...you are clearly out of focus...we're only trying to help clear your plate..." my mother whispered.
"And save our goddamn kingdom!"
"Hun, that's enough." My mom scolded.
I glanced at my mom, giving her the most pleading, begging eyes."Somethings there...I-I can save him...I need him." I whispered. I watched her as she stared into my eyes.
The air was stale. As I waited for her response, I could see her having a debate with herself.
"You have two weeks - and I wanna see improvement." She whispered.
"Dianna!-" my father began to butt in. My heart was beating so fast with relief.
She held her finger up - shushing him.
"You're meeting with the fairies tonight, don't forget you know how important it is to keep up with their requirements and relationships to keep the kingdom running smooth. Also, if we hear you're slacking from Victor during fencing practice, we will be re-discussing this...you're going to be a king, Kyson - you don't understand the pressure on you to be perfect..." she spoke softly—ignoring the fuming father standing behind her as she pulled rank.
"I want him helping with the duties around the kingdom with no trouble! He best be on best behavior especially towards us and other villages!" My father boomed.
I nodded after agreeing to their requirements, before exiting the room. I rushed to my room slamming the door behind me.
Taking a deep breath trying to process everything that had just been said in that room.
My head was swarming as I heard my parents leave the office.
Making my way back into the room. Slowly opening the second file on the mysterious man.
I skimmed over it as my heart was beating aggressively - what were they talking about?
I saw reports on reports of crime scenes, deaths all with the name Achilles...
Till I found one further back - dated years ago, it was another wanted sign. Yet this time in the far right corner was a small image of a birth certificate, the whole paper was covered in the bright red ink that spelt...'wanted.'
Yet I could barely make out the words on the blue birth certificate.
Ajax Jones.
