Breakfast

My jaw fell open.

Why would I? H-huh.

Yes, I am thinking of stopping my dates with Galen right now, but why would he tell me to?

Is this a joke of any sort? Or maybe he despises Galen?

"It's the bet." Sabi niya at tsaka naglakad kung saan nakasabit ang kaniyang tuwalya.

"Bakit 'yon? Wala bang iba?"

"So... gusto mo siyang kasama?"

"W-what? Of course not!"

If only he were aware of how much I wanted to return home that day. How badly I wanted Galen to avoid discussing politics. How my date was more interested in my Dad's life than in mine, which made me lose my appetite.

"Then stop seeing him."

"'Yon lang?" Ang dali naman no'n!

"Yeah..." then he left to take his shower.

"Okay, Coach!" I told him that I totally agreed.

Wow, I was expecting him to have me run into the field fifty times, but his bet is so simple! Sa totoo lang kahit hindi niya pa pagawa sa akin 'yon ay lalayuan ko talaga si Galen.

"Susubukan ko, Quency."

"You should, Zara! Mom's expecting Tito and Tita."

I ran across Quency Laude, one of my mother's godchildren, outside the gym. In fact, my mother's business partner in our poultry is her parents.

She is currently handing me the invitation to her debut party. It falls one month from today, on December 15. She is a few months older than I am. Our family is close, yet we are not friends.

She never spoke to me, therefore we never hung out at least once. Ngayon lamang. Para sa debut party niya at alam kong hindi naman talaga ako ang iniimbita niya kundi ang mga magulang ko.

"See you there, Zara. Bye!" Then she walked away leaving me here alone.

Bumuntong hininga na lamang ako. Itinabi ko ang card sa aking bag at nagsimulang maglakad sa patungo sa auditorium.

We have a film viewing today, Sussie and Dorothea were both absent today. They will be fetching their grandparents at the airport. So, I'm just walking by myself. Wala naman akong malapit na kaibigan bukod sa kanila.

I hate socializing with others. Sa katunayan nga ay sila ang unang lumapit sa akin kaya 'yon pa lang ay utang na loob ko na sakanila. Kaya alam ko na agad na hindi ako pupunta sa birthday ni Quency, it would probabyly be just Mom and Dad or just Mom.
