"How are you doing?"

You put your travelling bag up against the wall as you entered the run down cottage. It was mid-afternoon, your feet hurt from the long journey but you paid them no mind as you were glad to visit the man in front of you.

It had been a few days of travelling and you had finally made it to a special location, your grandpa's luxury house.

Looking ahead to see a chair shift you heard a soft groan from the man who didn't even bother to look at you.

The bouquet of pink flowers you had brought slowly made their way into a vase behind him, replacing the still-fresh yellow ones you had brought the last time you had come here.

"Are you going to just stand there?" he said sensing your presence behind him, "Or are you going to come over so I can see you?"

The slightly irritated voice was coated with love, you knew, and you adjusted the flowers before leaving them and approaching him.

You looked up at the old man facing him head on as he blinked a few times.

"You've gotten skinnier."

You frowned at his words.

You hadn't seen your grandpa in a while and that was the first thing he said?

He never changed.

You watched him smile a bit, "I'm happy you're still frowning at me as usual."

You rolled your eyes before speaking, "I made you this," you spoke plainly, handing him a gift in a box.

He looked at you skeptically before opening the box revealing a grand suit.

He chuckled, "I heard the shop you opened is still doing very well."

"I'm still making quite a bit of money."

"And yet you still wear such simple clothing...?"

You pressed your lips together not knowing what to say.

How were you supposed to respond to such a thing?

Your grandpa sighed, "You know...you don't have to pay for such a lavish living place for me. I'm going to die soon anyway...why not spend it on yoursel-,"

"Don't say that," you scolded.

You gave him a soft glare, not harsh enough to be completely serious but enough to make him realize you had no intention of abandoning him.

"I didn't mean to offend you...by the way, when are you gonna get married?"

You blinked a few times processing his words.

"..."

"I want to see your husband before I die."

Your cheeks burned a bright red and your grandfather sighed.

One might've expected a negative reaction to being asked such a question but you were just flustered.

"I hope you don't go around blushing ferociously at simple compliments like you used to."

"I don't," you murmured, "I'm not a little kid anymore."

"Good," he spoke, "you can't just let anyone see you blushing like that. They'll think it's creepy...do you have anyone in mind? Anybody you're interested in? Anyone who's interested in you?"

...

"I don't know...no one's ever approached me before."

"Huh?"

"I'm not the prettiest girl."

"You're pretty."

You smiled at his words.

Suddenly, your grandpa gave a heavy sigh.

"I have something to tell you (Y/N)."

...

"Yes?"

...

"I'm getting remarried."

Your eyebrow rose, "What?"

Remarried...as in another wife?

"I'm not having a wedding or anything," he began, " but I suppose I'll put this suit to work to make myself look good."

You frowned at his words, not because you were inherently upset, but rather because you depended so much on your grandpa. He was the primary person you talked to due to how busy you were.

Your grandpa saw it in a different light however, " Now you'll have more time to do you."

"But I don't want more time...," your voice trailed off sadly.

"(Y/N)," he said frowning sternly, "learn to talk to people. You never talk to anyone."

"That's not true, I talk to you."

He glared and you sighed.

"I know....," your voice trailed off, "But I'm comfortable with you."

"Find someone else to be comfortable around."

"Like who?"

"A friend. Or maybe a husband?"

"Not this again."

"I'm sure there's someone you're interested in."

You thought for a moment, "There was...but he got engaged."

"So you missed your chance."

"He's a client, but I doubt he'd be interested in me."

"And why is that?"

"I mean I'm just (Y/N)...and he's...he's Tsukihiko."

Your grandpa smiled.

"You never know (Y/N), maybe he does like (Y/N)."

"No, I do know. He's engaged."

Your grandpa smiled, he gave you a knowing smile that showed all his years before he scoffed.

"I don't think you know that for sure. You can always reconfirm it."

You gave your grandpa a certain look causing him to chuckle, "There are many chances in the world...if you see one don't wait until it's gone to take it."

You soaked in his words before giving a defeated nod.

He was right. You knew he was right.
