Hearing a grunt of pain here and there from Egon is breaking Vin's heart. The trek back home has been tasking on the boy

Egon winds up walking beside his bike, pushing it along with slow strides.

Vin remains perplexed. Baffled beyond belief.
Why was that blonde boy instigating a fight anyway? for supplies? No. For territory? No for dominance? No, Egon was already showing submission. For love? No. What was that all about? What happened to Egon's voice? He didn't say a word.

As Vin continues to ponder, something alarming washes over him. It hits him like a tsunami wave. A repressed memory plays itself out in his mind —
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~ Vin was having a merry time with his group. They offered a topped up mug of ale after he emptied his first. He was sucking down their gift of alcohol while he admired Lorraina. She always looked more tantalizing after some ale consumption.

Ruggi the dwarf stomped over to Vin, his bushy brows furrowed. Vin cocked his head, why is he looking so heated? This is a jovial time. Ruggi's deep gruff voice blasted past Vin's reverie.
"Listen here ya vermin! No one likes ya! We all hate yer guts! Yer pee brain don' seem to git that. Yer useless! Yer a coward! Yer a pest! We keep tryin' to git rid of ya, but ya keep comin' back! We dun one last thing to git rid of ya fer good."

Vin grinned and laughed heartily. They always tease him this way, it's part of their package charm.
His back legs started to feel weak, he began to sway. He felt woozy.
Hmmm, it normally takes more Ale than that to get me to this state.
Through blurred vision he saw everyone in his group, advancing towards him with determination. Then he collapsed. ~~~~~

Vin feels his whole self give out. His body slowly sinks low to the bottom of Egon's back pack.  Tears form and overflow down his cheeks. He trembles as realization hits him, that memory truly happened. It was real.
My companions. My friends? I always thought they were joking with me. All in good fun. How can this be? How could I be that naive? And.. and.. they did it.. they did send me here, to get rid of me. They left me alone in an unknown place.. because they hated me. They hated me...

Vin buries his face in his hands. His mind and heart can't handle any more of it. It is burying him. Consuming him.
