Storms

I feel them taking over me
I drench in them and despair, I feel death
I can smell cessation
I see death
These storms are overpowering me

See how weak I have become
An unknown disease from the waters has made a mission
A mission to eradicate my existence
What kind of a storm is this one, I ask myself but I have no answer
The prayers and cries of my beloved mother have kept me alive
To this day my beloved cries
This kind of storm is unbearable

Who hears my cries when I cry
I smile to cover the pain that I feel
Mother says it shall pass but I feel like I will pass
I look up to the Heavens for a favour
Favour for the One who walked on water to hold my hand
I don't know how to pray but my mother's a prayer warrior
These storms will pass but they have consumed me

Who hears the voice of the little girl inside me when she cries
The storms she faces are a bomb
If it's not sickness, it's my love life.
When I feel I have found the one for me
It turns out, he's either a pathetic liar or a pervert
It never rains but it pours for me
The storms are too much, they have monopolies me.

Will I ever see the calming of these storms
Or they will kill me in order to be calm?
Hope keeps me going
The strive for a peaceful tomorrow is the one that brings me joy
It brings joy that I forget these storms.
As these tides rise and fall, I try to remain calm.
Since these storms have overshadowed me.
