Nathan helped me to my room and then left me to unpack. My roommate, Alice was what Nathan said was her name, was no where to be seen, but her stuff was all over the left side of the room, so I claimed the right. The room was set out with one double bed to the right side of the door, and one opposite the door, each bed had a side table next to it, a huge wardrobe next to that, and a desk on the other side of the bed. A huge TV was opposite my bed with a slightly open door revealing the bathroom next to it.
I shut the door behind me and then walk over to the wardrobe on my side of the room, opening it and finding a huge purple-covered doona, along with 4 pillows, two white and two pink. The pink matched the shade of the flowering pattern along the base of the doona. I quickly made the bed, with white sheets already neatly tucked onto the mattress, then set to hanging my clothes in the wardrobe, then lining my shoes up at the bottom.
Once I was done with that, I walked over to my desk and placed various books, stationery, pictures and chargers in the drawers. I finally set my laptop on the surface of the workspace, and my phone next to it.
The last thing I did was grab my toiletries and neatly arrange them in the right section of the bathroom cupboard, then shoved all my empty bags under the bed, slid my shoes off and climbed under the covers, falling asleep immediately.
As I drift into dream, I feel it coming, and all I can think is 'Not now.'
I see him approach and the butterflies in my stomach start. Josh. His name spins in my head, again and again. Like a favourite song. His green eyes meet mine and he smiles, I turn my head away a little, a smile playing on my lips.
"Hey," he smiles as he speaks and I smile back.
"Hey," my reply is quiet, but he hears me nevertheless.
"How are you?"
"I-I'm good thanks." I was going to do it. I had too, I felt an encouraging nudge in my side and grip my books, looking up at Josh. Josh. Josh. "Will, um, will you go out with me?"
He hesitates, before replying, "Sure. Okay."
My eyes blink open and I sit up, remembering where I am. I cannot have this here. It's what I moved away from. Not again. Not again. Not again. I let him go, this needs to stop. I quickly get out of bed and pull the covers back up, arranging the pillows nicely.
The sun shining through the curtains disorientates me for a moment, a sort of jet lag messing me up. I had skipped forward about 8 hours. But I think sunrise was finally approaching.
I turn back to the door and I'm about to reach for the handle when the door bursts open. A short girl in heels with blonde corkscrew curls, dark eye makeup and deep purple lipstick walks through, but stops when she sees me. A short black leather skirt isn't high enough to reach the hem of her tight red shirt, displaying a pale abdomen, and emerald green eyes shine out of her makeup.
"Uh, sorry, hi. You must be Olive," she smiles, and a small silver ring glints in her nose in the light.
"Um, yeah. Alice, right?" My smile is a little forced. Who picked my room mate?
"Yep, the one and only," she meets my eyes. "Wow, nice eyes."
I look down self consciously, "Thanks. I was just heading out sorry."
"Alright, I'll see you later." She waves a little as I leave, and I head down the stairs.
I reach the front door and basically run out into the cold air, it is sharp against my skin, but I need it. After that dream or flashback or whatever it was, I was shaken. Why is it still happening?
I close my eyes and start walking along the fence, I hardly register when the gate opens and I bump into a girl, almost knocking her but I catch her elbow.
"Goodness, I'm so sorry," my eyes widen in embarrassment and I meet her eyes, one blue. One green.
"No, it was my bad, you were just enjoying a lovely winter walk," she smiles a little at my confused logic, brushing her straight red hair behind her ear. "You're new right? I'm Katherine."
I shake the hand she offers and she then dusts off her coat. "Olive."
"It's nice to meet you. Where's your room?" She smiles innocently, but she froze up earlier when she saw my eyes. Everyone seems to be noticing my eyes.
"House 4."
"Me too," she smiles brightly. "Would it be rude to ask for help with my luggage?"
"Not at all, I did nearly just knock you over." I bend down and pick up the huge bag off the ground and swing it over my shoulder
