Chapter 1

Levi POV

I walk into my new classroom, bored already. I haven't even walked in the classroom and I feel like going to sleep.

I walk through the door and the teacher walks up to me and wraps her arm around my shoulders.

"Hello class this is our new student."

"Hey." I say.

I look around the classroom and the girls are whispering and looking at me with lustful eyes. Sucks for them I'm Gay.

My eyes settle on a Boy in the corner. He has chocolate brown hair and it looking out the window. I immediately notice the dead eyes. I feel sudden hurt for the boy.

"You may take a seat in the chairs around Eren."

The boy -Eren- looks our way for a second and I swore I saw his eyes light up for a millisecond. It took my breath away. His eyes were a beautiful emerald green/turquoise. As I walk close I notice the black eye, hidden by his hair. I'm confused at the look in his eyes, why are they dead? How can I help return the beautiful color in his eyes?

"Hey I'm Levi." I tap his shoulder and he slightly winces. I immediately pull back, not meaning to hurt him.

"I-I'm Eren." He says quietly, with a tone of fear.

"What's wrong? Did I hurt you?" I ask.

"N-No, that was earlier at my house." He widens his eyes at what he just said. He quickly looks out the window, obviously pretending he didn't just say that.

I hear some whispering and decide to tune in, because they are looking at Eren and I.

"Hey why is the hot guy hanging out with that kid?" Someone asks.

"I don't know he obviously doesn't know the story about Crackhead." Someone says with venom.

My anger starts boiling. Why do they call him that?

"He obviously doesn't know that his dad-" They start but they are cut off by Eren standing up, tears building in his eyes and he starts to run off.

"Ya you go Eren! Run to mommy! Oh wait she died just like your pot-head father!" Eren momentarily paused at the door and is now running down that halls.

I look at them will all the hate I could muster. They immediately look away. I pick up his schedule and compare his with mine. We have all the same classes.

~Time Lapse~

When the bell sounds for lunch, I dart out the door. I run outside and run around looking for Eren. He didn't show up in any classes. I'm running through the hallways, beside the balcony on the roof. When I hear quiet sniffles. I stop and run onto the balcony. I look around and spot the brunette under the tree facing the wall with his head in his hands, his body shaking. I walk over and sit next to him. He looks up and turns away from me. I grab his shoulders and turn him back to face me. He looks at me and flinches. I can't help the look of hurt that enters my face for a millisecond.

"I-I'm sorry, I thought you were gonna hit me." He says with sadness.

"Why would I hit you?" I ask.

"Because everyone does." He replies simply. He looks at me with the dead eyes and I can barely stand it. My heart breaks. I lean forward and wrap my arms around him. He squeals in surprise.

"What, what are you doing?!?" He asks.

"Hugging you."

"Why?" He asks.

"Because you look like you needed one." I reply simple.

"Th-thanks." He says and blushes.

"I'll never hit you. I'll never hurt you. I'll never let anyone hurt you."

That moment forward, I vowed to bring back the light in his eyes.
