Levi POV

"Eren!!" I yell at my 11 year old friend.

"Eren!! Wait up!!"

"Hey Levi!" He yells.

"I was wondering if you wanted to walk home together." I ask, blushing.

He starts blushing but agrees. We walk down the block and when we turn a corner, we hear screaming and yelling. I look around confused but Eren gets a look of dread on his face.

"Eren what's that?" I ask. He just looks away and keeps walking. As we walk, I realize that Eren is walking towards the screaming house. My eyes widen as he walks up the path. We hear something break and he winces. He stops walking and turns around. He sprints up to me, pauses and wraps his arms around me. I'm shocked, but I waste no time in wrapping my arms around him and holding him tightly. He takes a shaky breath and whispered something in my ear that I can't make out. He looks at me and gives a smile that takes my breath away, the light behind is eyes, beautiful.

He takes off in the direction of the house and opens the door and quickly goes inside. I can't tear my eyes away from the house, the screaming, the crying and the sound of things breaking. I see Eren's face pop up in the left upstairs window, his face fear stricken, tears rolling down his face but he notices me and tries to smile. He looks behind him and his eyes widen and he looks back at me panicked and gestures for me to go. I just stare.

He opens his mouth and I can read what he's saying, even if I can't hear him, though he's screaming.

He's telling me to run. I waste no time. I turn and run, sprinting away from the house.

Little did I know, that would soon  be the biggest regret of my life.

~Time Lapse~

I sit in class the next day, the guilt ripping me apart from the inside, looking at Eren's empty seat. The guilt of not trying to help him last night, but hell, what am I kidding, what can a 11 year old do to save someone?

I watch his seat constantly for 2 periods. Just as I felt like I was gonna break into tears, Eren walks through the door.

"Sorry I'm late!" He says, his voice raspy.

"It's alright Eren, It's the first time so I'll let it slide." Says the teacher sympathetically.

"Thanks."

I watch him as he walks to his seat. My breath catches in my throat as I notice his limp. He tries to cover it up, but not doing the best job.

He sits down and looks at me. My heart practically stops beating as he looks at me. Not someone normal would have noticed, but I did. His eyes that are always so vibrant, have faded a bit. They are not so vibrant anymore. I look at his face and noticed some places he tried to cover something up, what did he try to cover up...?
