The Light Behind your Eyes (Ereri)

Chapter 8

Levi POV 

It takes me a moment to regain my thoughts, and moment is all it takes for me to start running towards the direction I saw Eren run.  Obviously he's running to his house because he doesn't wanna stay at the house of the man who slapped him. 

I continue runnung until I recognize the house I dropped him off at a few days ago. I run up to the door and twist the door nob, expecting it to be locked but I'm a little surprised and relived that it opens. I step into the house and look around the living room. 

I cover my nose at the smell. There's beer bottles everywhere, some broken and some not. There's vomit here and there and my eyes widen as I notice a few dry spots of blood. I walk further into the house and see Eren's foster dad passed out on the couch with a beer bottle in his hand. I look in disgust around the house and I walk up the stairs. I open the first door I see and it reveals a room full of screens. 

I walk towards the screens realizing that they are security cameras. I play with the controls rewinding till the day I dropped him off. Curious about what happened in the house, I keep rewinding until I see Eren walk in the door and see the beer bottle fly out the door, barely missing his head. I fast forward,  watching Eren being beat in fast motion. 

I begin rewinding again, seeing how far it will go. I'm still rewinding, until I see a beer bottle fly through the air and make impact on something. I pause and re-watch the moment. His faster father throws a beer bottle and it makes impact on Eren's head, making him fall to the floor unconscious. My blood boils and I want to go downstairs and beat the shit out of his faster father.  

I continue rewinding, watching Eren be beat contiuesly. I rewind to the days Grisha was alive. I watch him do drugs,  beat Eren even more. I clench my fists as I rewind to a few days before the paper was released.  I eventually find it and I watch it from the beggining. 

I watch Grisha inject Eren till the Point of unconsciousness and he keeps injecting more and then when he hears a knock on the door, he drops the drugs beside Eren and runs to back of the house silently. He then walk forward, gasping and acting surprised. He opens the door trembling and police burst through. They immediately find Eren on the couch, and they interrogate his dad and his dad acts surprised and dissapointed. He acts emotional, pretending to be the caring parent he obviously never was. The cops eventually take him away and that's All the proof I need. 

With one last thing to check, I rewind it some more, and I end up watching Grisha beat Eren then his mother unconscious. Then, fast forwarding it, I watch Eren get a phone call and he answers it and he drops to his knees and begins sobbing into the phone. My heart breaks as I realize this is what he was talking about, his father beating is mother and she died of her injuries. 

Not being able to watch more, I turn around and run to what I presume is Eren's room. I check his room, and his bathroom. Only finding pill bottles and razors. I lose strength in my knees as I grip the counter to keep from falling over. 

"Dammit Eren, Why? " I ask into the air. With closer inspection I notice dried blood, that looks like someone tried washing it. It looks like a suicide attempt. Forcing the tears to stay in my eyes, I quickly getting up, telling myself I have to find him.
