It was the day of the Ladies vs Gentlemen shoot when Karan Kundrra first laid eyes on Tejasswi Prakash. She had just walked in, a spark of energy lighting up the set, and he couldn't help but find her irresistibly cute. Throughout the show, he found himself agreeing with her thoughts more often than not, impressed by the clarity with which she spoke.
His partner Vikas already knew her, so Karan nudged him during a break.
"Introduce me, na," he said casually, though his eyes betrayed more eagerness than he intended.
Later, when the boys drifted toward the girls' podium during the interval, he made an attempt to strike up a conversation. But Tejasswi was glued to her phone, her attention completely elsewhere. She didn't seem the least bit interested.
The day ended, but his curiosity did not. Back at his place, he couldn't shake her from his mind. There was something about her—something that made him want to know more. Was she single? Was she dating someone? He couldn't tell, and the not knowing gnawed at him.
Meeting her once was enough to leave a mark. She was the kind of person who imprinted herself on your memory, impossible to forget. He found himself scrolling through her social media late into the night, watching her vlogs, smiling at her effortless charm. They had so many friends in common—it felt like their worlds were closer than he had thought.
He even slid into her DMs. She didn't respond. Radio silence stretched on for months, and eventually, he let her drift to the back of his mind. Or so he told himself. Somewhere in his subconscious—maybe even his heart—she had quietly taken root.

Almost a year later, at Suyash and Kishwer's wedding anniversary, fate decided to intervene again. As usual, Karan was the last to arrive. He walked into the party and froze.
There she was.
Tejasswi was on the dance floor with Kishwer, her yellow outfit glowing brighter than the lights around her. Her laughter bubbled through the room, her face radiant, her energy magnetic. She was having the time of her life, and yet—something about her eyes gave him pause. They sparkled, yes, but behind them lingered a dullness, a lost spark.
He hadn't realized how long he'd been staring until a hand landed on his shoulder.
"Kundrra!" Suyash grinned. "So glad you made it."
Karan snapped out of his trance. "Happy anniversary, brother! Where's Kishwer?"
"Right in front of you," Suyash laughed. "Come, she'll be thrilled to see you."
Karan followed, offering Kishwer a quick nod of congratulations, but before the silence between them could stretch, he excused himself and drifted toward the drinks. From across the room, though, his eyes betrayed him. They kept finding her. Watching her. Secretly adoring the way she lost herself in the music.
She was the center of attention that night. Every guy tried his luck, orbiting her like moths to a flame, but she paid them no mind. For the first time in a long while, Karan felt the sting of jealousy—strange, unsettling, but undeniable. He didn't even know her well enough to feel possessive, yet the thought of someone else winning her attention burned inside him. Relief washed over him only when he saw her turn every one of them down.
The night wound down, and as guests began to leave, Karan noticed her again. This time she was swaying, barely able to stand, with Kishwer struggling to support her. Tejasswi was clearly drunk, her words slurred, her steps unsteady. A few men hovered nearby, offering to drop her home, and something inside Karan tightened. He couldn't let them take her.
He stepped forward.
"I'll drop her," he said firmly. "Safe and sound. Don't worry, I haven't had much to drink."
Kishwer's shoulders sagged in relief. "That would be great. I'll send you her address."
