Episode 13

Reader Pov

Today is finally the day of my dreams. The day I get to fulfill the wish I've had since I first saw Death Note: to date L. Ahhhh who knew the day would actually come. And everyone said I was crazy. Well, who's laughing now?  Hehehehehe.  

I got up the morning after I had talked to L and decided to put on some clothes appropriate for the occasion, nothing too fancy, but also nothing too casual. I had decided that L and I were going to go to a sweets cafe, an escape room, and then go looking through the stores. The escape room will probably be a piece of cake for L, but I think it'd be fun nonetheless. 

When I had made it to headquarters, Watari answered the door. He told me that the task force had been informed not to come today as a temporary break. I bet that didn't go over well with some people. I'm sure chief Yagami and Aizawa were livid. Regardless, they'll just have to deal with it. 

"Hey Ryuzaki!" I said walking towards him. As usual, he was just in his white t-shirt and jeans.

"Oh hello there (Y/n)."

"Well, aren't you all dressed up for the occasion?" I joke bringing my hand to my mouth slightly.

"Apologies, but I don't have anything else," L explained slightly looking at his own outfit.

"I was kidding, you look good. We're not doing anything too fancy anyway." 

"Well, then I look forward to our adventure," L slightly smiles. 

He calls Watari over and signals for me to follow suit as we begin to walk out of the hotel room and to the outside. Watari left us to fetch the limo leaving L and me in somewhat awkward silence.

"Is this really a date, (Y/n)?"

"Of course it is!" I laugh.

"Then, is it safe to presume you harbor some sort of feelings for me?" 

Well, that's a little direct. But I suppose direct is normal for L. He hasn't had much normal social interaction after all.

"Naturally," I start. "But I don't want to force you into a relationship or force my feelings onto you. I know you're new to all this. For now, I just want to enjoy spending time with you. You're still my friend after all!" I say holding his hands in mine in between us. 

L just looks at me in slight shock and confusion, likely still processing all I said, while a light blush covers his cheeks. 

"I could really fall for you," L says in his daze. 

"That's the plan," I say laughing slightly while letting go of his hands.

L slightly brings his hands back down to his sides.

"Do you want to hold hands?" I ask before he has the chance to put them back into his pockets and slightly reaching out my hand towards his. 

L looks at it confused. He slightly starts moving his hand towards mine stopping slightly and pulling back a little, before continuing to grab it. 

Just then Watari decided to pull up in the limo. He got out and walked around seeing us, hands intertwined. His eyes slightly rose in shock, but soon after came back to his usual expression. He opened the door for us and we both got in, continuing to hold hands in the vehicle. 

"Where to?" Watari asked whilst shutting the door and getting back into the driver's seat. 

"The Sweet Treats Cafe," I say leaning in and whispering to Watari so L doesn't hear.

"Was that really necessary?" L asked confused as to my actions.

"It's a surprise," I reply smiling.
