. . . OPHELIA JUNE WALKED INTO JOHNNY LAWRENCE'S APARTMENT, a backpack on her shoulders that was full of her own clothes, freshly washed and dried, to see Johnny emptying his garbage on the floor.Ophelia scrunched her nose up in disgust. "Ew, Johnny." she eyed the beer and liquor bottles now littering the floor. "What the hell are you doing?"
"Looking for that stupid check that Sid gave me," Johnny murmured out as he dug through the pile of trash before coming up with two pieces of shredded paper, a victorious grin now on his lips.
"What are you going to do with that?" Ophelia asked as she walked out from the guest room, where she had just put her bag.
Johnny looked at her, a proud look on his face. "I'm going to reopen Cobra Kai," he said as he walked over to the kitchen, opening a drawer before pulling out some tape from the drawer.
Ophelia stood still in the living room, her lips formed into a straight line. "Why do you want to do that?" she asked. She knew that their encounter with Daniel most likely set this entire idea off.
Johnny grinned at her, looking the most happy she had seen him since 6th grade. "I dunno, I just felt like changing my life. I gotta use this $10,000 check anyway, right?"
Ophelia's jaw dropped as she snatched the now taped up check from his hands. "$10,000, Johnny? Holy shit!"
Johnny grinned even wider, nodding. "And guess what? I want you to help me start it up!" he exclaimed, "And I'm gonna ask that dork from across the hall to be my first student."
Ophelia's mouth was back to a frown as a pit started to form in her stomach. "Are you sure you want me to help you with Cobra Kai, Johnny?" she asked, suddenly looking uncomfortable with his offer. "I mean, it kind of goes against my morals."
She knew she resonated with Mister Miyagi's karate and his only. She feared that helping Johnny with Cobra Kai might disrespect Mister Miyagi's lessons.
Johnny shrugged. "You wouldn't have to be a Sensei. You could maybe just help out with the warmups and get the dojo ready. Maybe you could be the receptionist or something." He understood where she was coming from; he would be the same way if she had asked him to join her and Daniel in their lessons back in the day. Or even now, in present day.
"Maybe," the woman nodded. "But sure, I'll help you clean it out and stuff."
Johnny smiled at her, suddenly feeling a strange urge to hug her. But he didn't – he didn't know whether Ophelia was still okay with hugs or not.
"So um. . ." Johnny trailed off, scratching the top of his head. He didn't know how to ask what he wanted to ask. But he decided; fuck it. "What happened between you and Larusso?"
Ophelia went stiff. Almost as stiff as she was at Larusso Auto the day before. "Nothing happened," she stated, but by her unusually monotonous voice, Johnny knew it was a lie.
"Really?" Johnny gave her an 'I-know-you're-lying' look, to which Ophelia glared at him. He put his hands up in mock surrender, "Okay, fine. But I will find out what you're hiding sooner or later."
Ophelia chuckled humorlessly as she rolled her eyes, "Alright, sure you will." she paused for a couple moments before speaking up again. "So when are you planning on opening up the Dojo?"
Johnny smiled. "I've got a place."
