Stupid.
The cool water crashed against the girls delicate hands as she tried to clean a stain of mud off of her floral top. Everyone had stated that she had to help clean clothes and do things the women were doing since she'd need go know how to do it. Sofia wasn't even helping, she had been helping which annoyed Kendra, she was a child doing work she didn't want to be doing.
Shoving the top into a basket Kendra smiled at the laughing coming from the women beside her. The Walsh girl was never fond of the man, Ed. He wasn't polite at all and he always was upset with someone.
Kendra was taught from a young age to sit back and be quiet when a man is upset with you, take what he has to give and move on. Her father had always told her that. She didn't know what else to believe besides the fact that Ed was no better than her own father was.
The four adults had stood up Andrea pulling the small girl to her feet before grabbing Ed's hand trying to pull it away from Carol. A curious brow perked on the girls face as she neared the group trying to help the older women. Ed's hard glade found it's way onto the girl who was extremely short, her size didn't match her age by the slightest. At 9 years old she was a short 4'7 girl. Grabbing the girls hair the man threw her backwards sending her onto her back.
Letting out a groan as she clutched the back of her head Andrea was by her side in a second cradling her head. Kendra's hearing felt like her head was being pushed under the water and water was filling her ears.
Andrea gently picked the girl up carrying her up to the camp a small frown apparent on the girls face as she did so. Andrea was a confusing person, she was secretive and not so open with the group much like the Dixon brothers. Kendra had actually admired the twos bond and how they were so brave. She'd never say that to their faces, she was terrified of the two, they didn't seem all to friendly and that made the girl confused as to of why she wanted to be like them.
She wanted to be brave and helpful be able to help get food and protect the others not be carried like a baby to safety when she got a cut on her knee. She hated the feeling of being babied.
Sitting down at the table in the RV Kendra placed a cool fabric against the back of her head laying her forehead against the table letting her eye lids drop.
Sleep welcomed the girl with open arms and a smile on its face.
