𝕯arlene takes a deep breath allowing her lungs to relieve some of the stress accumulated in each and every muscle of her body.
The fresh air provides little respite from the anxiety slowly and gradually taking shape inside of her but the moment his hand envelopes hers giving it a tiny squeeze, she smiles carefree.
"You alright?", he whispers into her ear just as Anne and Gemma return with all of their drinks.
They decided to meet up at an outdoor café on the outskirts of London near a largely remote area for extra privacy.
The second Anne's eyes had met Darlene's, she'd pulled her in for a hug surprising the blonde into wide amusement.
"It's so nice to finally meet you", the older woman had gushed as they hugged followed by Gemma offering a polite smile.
Now, as they sit opposite to each other under a wide surfaced umbrella shadowing the table, Darlene finds herself slowly relaxing as the cold afternoon breeze pushes past them letting the conversation flow with a familiar ease.
The two very important women in Harry's life ended up being one of the sweetest people Darlene had ever met.
She's left to wonder, why was she even nervous in the first place?
"Darlene, honey. I was thinking, do you have plans for Christmas Eve? I know you'd want to spend Christmas day with your family so maybe we could have Christmas Eve dinner together?", Anne smiles an affectionate smile bringing a heartwarming feel to the blonde's mind.
"I would love to", she replies joyfully.
And she means it too.
For the first time in a long time, Darlene doesn't feel like an outsider around people who up until yesterday, were virtual strangers to her.
Of course she prides herself for her usually unwavering confidence but new people still scare her.
And yet, Gemma and Anne make her feel right at home with their casual banter and inclusive personality, Darlene feels like she belongs with them.
