Last night she had promised Mingi a hangover meal, so she'd decided to step out early in the morning and pick up some ingredients. On her way back, she couldn't help but to remember how delicious the her hangover meal was with Seonghwa's bread.
Taking a minor detour, she popped in, sending him a smile as she walked over to the counter, awaiting her turn to order. Finally it was her turn and she was sure she could trust Seonghwa with the good news.
"What brings you here so early? Discount bread?" Seonghwa joked, earning a laugh from her.
"Actually- I will be paying for today's bread." She seemed way more chipper than usual and Seonghwa didn't even have to ask what had gotten her in a good mood since she was already starting to explain. "I'm making a hangover meal for Mingi and I thought your bread would go with it. I walked him home last night and we made up..."
"Really?" He raised an eyebrow. "That's great. I'm glad you both managed to sort things out. You're a good influence on him."
"Thank you," Yejin smiled, reaching for her purse. "How much..."
"Ah right, yeah, it's 2,500 won." He responded, whispering the last part. "Friends discount."
"Oh you spoil me," Yejin joked, pulling out the change and handing it to him.
"Thank you," He took the money, putting it away in the till and handing her a device. "It'll buzz when your orders ready. You can take a seat-"
"Yejin?" Mingi's voice called out in disbelief, causing her to swiftly turn her head towards the door, where Mingi stood with Suji at his side, smirking to herself about the miraculous timing.
It was all going way too perfectly. Once again she'd managed to get her away.
"What are-"
Before Yejin could say another word, she let out a scream from the shock of what she had just witnessed. Mingi had stormed over to the counter, throwing a punch at an unsuspecting Seonghwa.
"What the fuck! What the hell is wrong with you bro-" Seonghwa shouted, backing away and holding his nose in pain.
By now, customers were scrambling away, scurrying outside and watching from the outer safety. Phones were raised, attempting to film and others calling the police. They were going to get in trouble if they didn't stop.
"I can't believe you'd do this to me!" Mingi raged, walking around the counter and grabbing onto Seonghwa by the collar. "What? You know she loves another man and you still want her?"
"What are you on about?" Seonghwa cried out in confusion. "Are you crazy? This is my workplace-"
"No, you're the crazy one." Mingi gritted his teeth, pushing Seonghwa up against the wall. " Stay away from Yejin."
"Dude..."
"Mingi stop!" Yejin rushed over, grabbing his arm and attempting to split the two apart even though it was dangerous.
Unfortunately, Yejin was pushed away by Mingi out of the heat of the moment as he threw another punch at Seonghwa.
"If you..." He threw another punch. "Ever-" Punch. "Go near..." Punch.
Finally Seonghwa had become enraged, throwing punches back as Mingi stumbled back, the pair suddenly smashing down things off the counter as they threw each other about.
Yejin had backed away, screaming for them to stop. She couldn't go near them, it was too dangerous. She'd get hurt but maybe that's what needed to happen... If one of them tossed her or hit her on accident, they'd be forced to stop out of guilt or shock. Yejin wasn't brave enough to throw herself into the tigers cage like that...
By now Suji was beginning to regret her decision as it was getting completely out of hand... dangerous even as the sirens blared from outside. Now they were in real trouble.
Everything went by in a blur. One police car became two ambulances and a dozen cop cars. It had all gotten way too out of hand. The police had to pry them apart and by the time they did, there was blood everywhere. Each of them had been carted off into one of the two ambulances.
Yejin didn't know who to go with but with Suji there, she knew she'd choose Mingi in an instance. The least she could do was say goodbye to him.
Walking over, Yejin climbed up the ramp into the ambulance, staring at Mingi with an unreadable expression. Disappointment? Disgust?
"I don't know what's wrong with you but what you did today-" She let out a sarcastic chuckle. "It was like looking at a stranger. I didn't want to regret my decisions but after this, I regret it so much. I don't know if I can look at you the same way right again... I need some time away from you."
"Don't go!" Mingi blurted out, rushing to grab her hand, the paramedic looking at him disapprovingly for moving.
"No matter what, you have somebody by your side. Seonghwa has nobody. Everybody is going to pick you every time." Yejin continued. "Suji will go along with you to the hospital. I know how it feels to have no one in your corner... Seonghwa was there for me when I had no one and I'm going to repay him. I don't know why you did what you did but for whatever reason, I don't think there is any excuse for you to act so violently."
"I can explain-"
"You can explain over message," Yejin backed away, pulling her hand away from his. "I don't want to be near you right now."
"Wait-" Mingi called out, only for Yejin to disappear from his sights and for Suji to appear, walking up the ramp.
"Forget her," Suji sent him a sympathetic smile. "You need to get to the hospital and get your wounds cleaned up. The police want to talk to you... you could spend the night in jail."
