Chapter 10: Owl attack

Annabeth's pov:

I turned my head towards where Piper was pointed and found an odd looking shop littered with owls, cats and rats.

Piper and Jason were the first to walk inside and take a look around.  I signaled Frank to descend. A few minutes later, Frank had returned to his original form with Hazel strapped into a hug beside him.

They broke their moment to trudge through the doors of the pet shop. Sadie and I walked in last with Percy and Carter right beside us.

As I walked in, all the owls in the place started looking at me and bowing. I blushed slightly.

Then they saw Percy and attacked him. Carter shot out of the way and saw Percy being attacked by owls.

I laughed a little before yelling mentally at the owls to stop. The owls stopped their massacre and returned to what they were doing after giving me a few angry glances.

After the owls had dispersed, I saw my boyfriend in a state of confusion. His clothes were tattered and his face was covered with a few cuts.

His hair was ruffled badly but then again, it always is.

I made a pity and face and said," Aw, Percy got attacked by owls."

"Not funny," murmured Percy. Sadie, Carter, Piper and Leo were rolling on the ground laughing but Frank, Hazel, Thalia, Jason and Nico looked at Percy with pity as though this had happened to them before or in Frank's case, just now.

Frank had Poseidon's blood running through his veins as well so the owls weren't any better behaved with him then they were with Percy.

"I think I'll settle for a cat," Percy said before pulling out a snow white cat from a nearby cage.

Hazel, Nico, Frank, Jason and Thalia followed his example and bought cats.

Hazel bought a brown cat with black stripes. Nico and Thalia each got black cats except that Thalia's had a patch of white under its belly.

Frank decided upon a polka dot patterned cat. Its fur coat was covered with Black and white colors.

 Jason bought a ginger coated cat. He named it on the spot. He named it Tabby.

Frank followed Jason's example and called his cat Polka. Hazel named her cat 'Stripes' while Nico and Thalia both yelled," Night."

They looked at each other, exasperated. Thalia spoke up;" name your cat something else!"

Nico retorted by saying," My cat's name is night. Name yours something else... No wait! You can keep the name 'Night'. I've got a better one."

Thalia smirked and said," Oh yeah? What is it?"

"Shadow," replied Nico in a matter-of-fact way.

Thalia said," Nice name. Can I use it for my cat?"

Nico's face turned red with anger as he screamed," NO, YOU CAN'T USE IT FOR YOUR CAT!"

"Okay, okay. Calm down!" Thalia said, holding her hands up in surrender.

Piper and Leo were looking for owls so I decided to join them. Apparently, Leo like scrawny owls because me picked a real messed up one and said," What should I name you buddy?"

He scrunched up his face and tried to find a name but he couldn't find one so he said," Annabeth, a little help here?"

I thought for a second before saying," How about Hank?"

Leo's face filled with joy after which he said," just perfect."

I smirked and walked over to Piper who had picked up a pink owl. Well part pink. It had a splash of pink here and there so it looked like an art project gone wrong.

"What did you name it?" I asked.

"It's a girl and I named it Mitis. It's Latin for Gentle," Piper replied.

I thought she was joking at first but her face remained the same so I just carried on and tried to find myself an owl. It didn't take long since I am a daughter of Athena.

An owl flew up to me and pecked affectionately at my head.

I decided to buy that one so I racked my head for a name. In the end I decided upon 'Lux.'

I walked up to Percy and said," What did you name her?"

Percy looked over to me and said," I think I'll name her 'Pusa'"

I frowned at Percy and said," That mean 'girl' in Latin, genius."

Percy looked at me like so?

"You are such an idiot. Try 'optio' or 'carus' "I suggested.

Percy thought for a moment and said," I think optio would do just fine."

I gave him a tiny peck on his check after which he turned to talk to Sadie and Carter.

The lot paid for their pet and dispersed out of the shop where they swung their cages with delight. All of them except for Nico and Thalia, that is.

I studied my list, looking for where we could find telescopes. Much to my surprise, I found out that the end of the page had been stuck together all along.
