After collapsing into his arms, Pico watched as Blu faded in and out of consciousness.
"Stay awake, come on, you gotta stay awake." Pico demanded and shook Blu's head, unsure if the fainting young man could hear his instructions.
"Bring him to the water, it might help!" Lynn cried, grabbing Pico's broad arms and yanking him towards the ocean. Pico didn't question the bizarre suggestion and lifted Blu over his shoulder. Blu lifted his head to look back at the crowd of teens, barely managing to get out one last sentence before falling unconscious.
"I... was human... tooooo....." The demon choked on his own breath, hitching before closing his eyes. Pico quickly laid him on the water's surface, looking up at Lynn as if awaiting directions.
"The water seemed to help heal his wounds a little, but only for the external ones. I'm not sure how demons other than myself heal, oh man oh man oh man..." Lynn wailed, nearly hyperventilating.
"We need help. Do you know anyone that might know about magic and healing?"
"W-ell, what about J-Jarvis?" Lynn's hands were shaking and their tail waved up and down, splashing in the choppy waves.
"Ughhhh, that guy gave me the creeps. If ya think he can help, go get em'!" The ginger passed his phone over to Lynn, hoping that they knew their number, but Lynn shook their head, pushing the phone back.
"He's too far away and I don't know how to use a phone. We need to do something here and now!"
"Shit... I'm at a loss..." Pico trailed off, his voice dying to a whisper. He glanced at Blu's pale face, no longer cyan in color. He almost looked grayish-white. His gills flared with each ragged breath. Pico slipped his fingers through Blu's soft hair. It was littered with sand and was bone dry from the salt of the ocean. The cyan strands crinkled between his fingertips.
"Dumbass, don't die. If you die, I'll kill you!" He mumbled before looking behind him at the rich kids. He saw various flashing lights on the street, the most alarming being blue and red. A girl hesitantly approached him, her blue eyes puffy from crying.
"Is there anything we can do? This is our fault, let us fix it!" She sobbed, ugly tears dripping down her cheeks with mascara carried with it.
"Amelia, the blue guy was right. We don't know shit about demons. I doubt we could do anything." Her brother, Rowan, sighed and rubbed his face, sniffling. They might be arrogant and mean, but they are just terrified kids, wanting to defend themselves from what they believed was a threat to their lives.
"If you want to help," Pico cut in, "then scream. Go distract the fuzz before they discover us, just keep them away!"
"Okay, I'll try." Amelia didn't argue, complying with Pico's demands. She waved at her friends before darting up the shoreline with her possy in tow. Rowan glanced one last time at Blu, his face twisting into unreadable expressions.
"Was he really human? Is that possible?" He asked Lynn, probably intimidated by Pico's sudden appearance and assertive behavior.
"He was, just a month ago." Pico was the one to answer. Lynn was still panicking, too busy taking deep breaths to answer. Rowan flinched from Pico's dead tone of voice. "Knowing him, he probably forgave you and your little bum ass gang, though you clearly don't deserve it."
"Yeah..."
"Now fuck off before I shoot you in the chest, kid. You're a shit shot, but I sure as hell don't miss, ya hear?" The warning was effective. Rowan gulped nervously before darting after his sister.
"Okay, I think I'm better now." Lynn coughed, shuddering as they moved closer.
"Any ideas what we could do? If he stays unconscious for too long, it can cause brain damage or somethin'."
