Over the next week, Blu had to deal with claws popping out from his fingertips at random. It was, in all honesty, extremely bothersome. The pain prevented him from holding a mic, it was such a bummer.
One second he would be eating toast, and then suddenly a new bloody claw sticking straight through it. It would literally happen out of nowhere with no warning whatsoever, right out the tip of the finger.
Jarvis and Blu finished their rap battle at the end of the week, with Blu easily winning. Jarvis gave him some friendly advice. If a demon fed on a large amount of human blood, they could last without feeding again for six months as long as he did not get injured. He still needed regular food on a daily basis as well.
As for Jack, he had a long talk with Pico about his daily life. The goat hippy was seriously invested with human habits. Pico didn't mind the free therapy session, that shit was expensive.
The next day, they had left. The group said goodbye and headed out before dawn. It was a clear Saturday morning once they left, or as clear as a cloudy sky could get. Pico allowed both Blu and Lynn to stay as Blu underwent his weird little "changes."
Blue was beyond thankful, he felt as if he were going through hell. Imagine puberty but worse. Anyone would be surprised if sharp bones simultaneously erupted from their shoulder blades and their lower spine. Blu wasn't able to sleep that night, or the following night afterwards. Actually, for nearly five nights he remained somewhat awake, only sleeping for about two hours in total each time before a new spout of pain woke him.
More bones grew out over the span of a week. It was grotesque and the blood was nonstop. Pico obsessively cleaned any drop of blood that dared drip on his possessions. Muscles soon grew alongside the bone and neatly wrapped around like red strings.
Blu was sleep deprived and sickly. He couldn't eat anything since it never stayed down. His vision was blurry and he hardly moved around anymore. He didn't even feel like singing. All he could do was watch TV as Pico slept in his room, and Lynn in a water-filled bathtub instead of outside.
He watched cartoons, checking the weather channel occasionally. The world was aware that demons existed. Some news channels believed that it was the end of humanity. Blu tried to ignore those.
Eventually, the torture was over. He hardly resembled himself anymore. He sprouted a long, furry cyan tail and two large leathery wings. His skin and mouth had turned blue. He now had red irises and pupils, much like Lynn's. He also had shiny, vibrant blue scales all over his body. There was simply no way he could pass as human anymore.
The pain finally stopped, and he was finally going to sleep with the determination of... well... someone who hasn't slept in ages. But of course, nature had other plans for him.
A thunderstorm, go figure.
The power lines had recently been repaired since the last storm two weeks ago, but it was all for naught. The wind threw them back down, severing the power. The house was swallowed in darkness, and the roar of thunder was slowly approaching the house.
Blu was laying face down on the red couch. His new wings and tail were awkwardly sticking up into the air. The new ram horns that curled on the sides of his head weren't helping. He didn't know what position to sleep in anymore. The couch no longer felt soft and he kept rolling around when lightning struck nearby, yelping with fear every time. His blanket was on the floor, thrown there after a particularly bad thunderstrike.
It was midnight and he wasn't asleep. He groaned and started flicking his tail. The storm was still looming overhead. Everytime he began to drift off, he would just get startled again by a fierce flash in the room. It was a desperate attempt to calm himself, but he began humming a tune his girlfriend sang to him during thunderstorms. The humming quickly turned to singing as the storm grew evermore violent.
