In Fools We Trust

They'd finally gotten Sang to calm down, curled up in Victor's lap and poking at the 3DS he had gotten her. Over her head, Victor kept his eyes on the laptop, watching for anything to change. He stiffened briefly when Sang readjusted herself, he attempted a straight face as he forced his focus on the screen.

Axel, Marc, Kota, and Owen stood around the desk looking over some files. The four quietly calculated their next step.

On the recliner, Raven was beginning to doze off while he waited for Dr. Phil to come by.

North sat by Victor, hunched over the coffee table as he took notes translating the German documents. He sensed Victor stiffen beside him, glancing over, it only took him a moment to realize what was wrong.

Victor kept his arms still hoping to stop Sang from squirming on his lap and despite his best efforts, pink took over his cheeks.

Sitting up with his arms crossed over his chest, North couldn't contain his smirk when his eyes met his teammate's desperate ones. "You doing okay, Vic?"

This caused Sang to look up from her game, she glanced at North and then Victor with a puzzled expression. The others paused to look up as well and Raven had woken up, looking over at the couch that North, Victor, and Sang took up.

"I'm fine," Victor said through gritted teeth, his jaw clenched as he tried to avoid alerting Sang about his current situation.

"What's wrong, Victor, can't handle a little girl?" North taunted causing Sang to furrow her brows and narrow her eyes at him.

The others looked over at Victor and it didn't take them long to understand what North was talking about. Raven sat forward with a smirk of his own.

Victor shot a glare at North but Sang sat up causing Victor to let out a grunt. Sang hadn't noticed a change in Victor until North spoke. She closed her game and set it aside before looking at Victor. He kept his eyes on his laptop, his face blank with effort but his cheeks were a bright red.

He couldn't take it anymore with her movements, before she could ask, Victor moved her off his lap and passed her to North who took her in his effortlessly. Victor mumbled an apology to her and shot a glance at North who continued smirking. You try it, he challenged wordlessly before closing his laptop.

Sang quickly sat up, staring after Victor as he walked around the couch and rushed down the hallway until she heard a door shut. The others were quiet. She rubbed her cheek, wondering about Victor and why she was left on North's lap. "Wha–"

North gently slapped her bare thigh, redirecting her attention. "He'll come back," he said reaching for her 3DS and placing it in her hand. "Don't worry."

It took some convincing before Sang settled again. They all went back to work, Raven had gotten up to join the others at the desk. North read over the document with his arm around Sang.

Victor eventually returned, typing on his laptop and at some point, the others returned and reported to their leads outside in the hallway. Sang had closed her game and fallen asleep with her cheek pressed against North's chest. He nuzzled his nose in her hair, an arm around her body as his free hand held the sheets of paper.

All was fine until Sang began moving in North's lap as if to turn over to find a comfortable position. Her movements were soft and subtle but her butt brushing against his crotch was hard to ignore.

Though he tried, forcing himself to read the last sentence multiple times, his mind kept getting distracted. North cleared his throat to hide a grunt. Marc's ears picked up on it and he looked up from one of the documents in his hands. A smirk took over his face and he silently nudged Axel. Axel adjusted his glasses as he turned to Marc, he looked over where Marc had nodded his head.

This caught the others' attention. They watched with amusement as North struggled to keep his composure under control without waking her up. Marc tossed a crumpled piece of paper at Victor, he looked up with furrowed brows. His eyes followed the others to North and he quickly understood and a smirk stretched on his lips.

North tightened his arm as gently as he could to keep her from moving. He placed the papers on the coffee table as he thought of the best way to move her without waking her. He clenched his jaw, feeling the others' eyes on him.

"Shut up," he growled quietly, looking up to meet their gazes and shoot a glare at Victor's smug smirk.

Owen crossed his arms. Kota scratched the back of his neck. If they weren't busy they'd hold her themselves. Owen, however, was pinning North with a stare. Sean had once mentioned to him that Sang would be the best training tool for the team and seeing how two of his team members were reacting to just having her on their laps, he began to consider it.

North resisted an eye roll and grunted. He couldn't focus like this.

Raven smirked and let out a hushed chuckle. "Just wake her up and take her to the room real quick."

His suggestion had Kota, Victor, and Owen blushing and glaring at North. He narrowed his eyes at Raven fighting back the blush that wanted to creep onto his cheeks. North would, of course, but he had to get this done. "I'm busy," he snapped, keeping his voice down since he had Sang so close.

"I will, then," Raven offered, taking a step towards them.

Marc stopped him by elbowing him hard in the gut.

Axel narrowed his eyes at Raven, "you're busy too," he reminded. "We'll need you soon."

"It's getting late anyway and she had a long day," Kota said, looking at the clock on the desk before glancing at Marc and then North. "You should probably take her to bed."

Again, he would. But in his current state, North didn't think he could get up. And if he got that far, he didn't trust himself to be alone in a room with her if she woke up, not right now.

Raven grunted and returned to the desk while Marc stepped around him towards Sang's sleeping form on North. "I'll take her."

North shot him a glare as he got closer but loosened his hold to let Marc pick her up. Sang instantly curled up in Marc's arms as he stood up and made his way out of the office.

As soon as they were gone, Victor turned to North and opened his mouth but North stopped him with a glare. "Fuck off," he barked before getting up to make his way to the bathroom.

Marc entered one of the rooms, finding Brandon sprawled across the bed with the blanket half on his body. He frowned, this was the most exhausted he and his team have been. He hoped this all would be over soon.

He stopped at the bed where Brandon's foot hung off. Marc held Sang tightly as he nudged Brandon with his knee. Brandon stirred and turned on his back, rubbing his eye. "What now," he grumbled and opened his eyes. The light from the hallway was enough to tell him it was Marc carrying Sang.

"It's your turn," Marc responded with an amused tone. "She's causing trouble."

Brandon blinked, scooting over as he watched Marc place her on the bed beside him. He looked at Marc with a frown and furrowed brows. "In her sleep?"

Minor spoiler cause I've gotten questions about this:

Sang does not find out about the Academy for a while. Too much is happening. However, you'll see from book one and onward, she does suspects that something's off but she tries to dismiss their "work" as part of Owen's supposed shipping company or something. Because of how she was never allowed to get curious about things that went on in her family, she tries to dismiss things she notices when it comes to the guys. Afraid that if she tries to question things, they'll be disappointed or she'll get in some sort of trouble(even though she knows they wouldn't hurt her at this point, the effects of years of abuse can take time to heal from). But as she gets more comfortable with her own voice and with the guys, she'll ask more.
