"Small steps, Nala. Don't force yourself, just pace it," the doctor assured Nala while helping her walk again but like always, Nala was too stubborn to follow orders.
It has been three months since she started physical therapy and she could see her results while starting to feel them. Both bands visited her at her apartment on the days she didn't have physical therapy with her doctor, and Elias became her personal driver until she was safe to drive again. Fans were still sending their love and prayers toward her recovery, and she read all the comments they received. Everyone around them were beyond nice to her and made her recovery journey a bit brighter.
Life was finally looking great for her.
Expect for Gretchen.
She hated Nala more and more each time she heard Johnny FaceTiming her, or noticed the amount of time he was away. It didn't take a genius to know where he went each day and she got used to becoming home alone. She wouldn't admit this to Johnny since she feared he wouldn't propose sooner due to this, and showed her fake face when around the band. Her ugly side would soon show itself and her true colors would be shown sooner than she thought.
Nala tried walking on her own towards the bed but due to the pain her legs still had, she slid down onto the floor to rest. Doctors gave her crutches to help with her walking and they saw her walking on her own in a few months, at most. It was Friday and was Johnny's turn, so on his weekend with Nala, he always took her to their favorite restaurant and finished the day with a small binge-marathon.
"Ready to pick some takeout and watch some Golden Girls?" Johnny asked her as they exited the building and the mentioning of the Golden Girls made her smile.
"Sure but I call dibs on the recliner this time," Johnny carefully helped her with walking over to the car and with her crutches in the back seat, they drove home.
Elias had Faith with him during Nala's recovery and would send her updates on the little girl. Faith was growing more hair that the only hairstyle they did was small little buns, and Faith always fell asleep to some violin for her naps. Nala wouldn't admit it but she secretly wished to adopt her as she became close to her, and hoped to be called "moma".
A dream slowly turning into reality.
Tell her now, Johnny. Johnny told himself throughout the night and tried getting close to her whenever she placed her head on his shoulder. They had gotten close to one another throughout the years and as good friends they of course are, cuddling wasn't new to either one of them.
Seeing her sleeping on his shoulder made him feel a certain way about her. He was clearly falling in love with her again and wanted to break things with Gretchen so he could finally be with Nala. Nala was the only one for him and felt as if he was on cloud nine each time he was around her. He spent years avoiding and making her jealous for so long but with his true love in his arms, he might actually do it.
Before he could say a word, both of their phones buzzed during a film and seeing who called them, they had a moment alone. Gretchen was calling him as he forgot to tell her where he was but once she found out, she quickly ended the conversation. She couldn't take it anymore and wanted to leave him so he could finally have Nala, but she remained calm as she wasn't letting her win that easy.
Nala's mother called her to inform her on her current family issues and with the mention of her father being the first sentence out of her mouth, Nala knew bad things happened. Her parents were divorced her whole life but used to live together for the sake of their daughter, and when things got worse, living away seemed right. Plus, they kicked her out the same night Johnny and Nala went to that rock show that forever changed their lives. It had been nearly 9 years since that fight occurred and with many things being said throughout the heated argument, there was no need for her to reach out.
"Your father wants to see you soon, Nadaline." Amber Hall told her eldest daughter once she picked up the call but before she could say anything, Nala hung up and locked her phone before any calls of her came.
Johnny received a call from an unknown number and with their city being filled with many creeps, he ignored the caller and enjoyed the show they were currently watching. Johnny walked her toward her bedroom as they weren't passed the walking stage and once again, he remained by her side until she fell asleep. To him, she looked like a angel sent from heaven and even with her hair being messy, she looked breathtaking to him.
He imagined a whole new life with her. He wanted to post her on every social platform he owned and even shout to the sky how much he was in love with her. But in the meantime, he only saw her as a sister and wanted her to be happy.
Gretchen was already asleep by the time he came home but didn't bother waking her as he knew she'd start another argument. He called it a night at one of their guest bedrooms and later went to sleep once he knew Nala was safe at home. He constantly worried about her as he hates to imagine seeing her hurt again, and if another accident happened, he wouldn't forget himself.
Around that same time everyone was asleep in their rooms, a well-known and respected producer stumbled upon the band, and was interested in doing future projects with them. However, only one member peaked his interest and breaking the band might be a option that person had to consider. With money being on the line, he contacted Elias as he wanted to speak with him first before contacting his "favorite" member, a mistake that Elias would later commit.
The question being, who's the lucky band member and what will their decision be?
