im·plo·sion
noun
an instance of something collapsing violently inward. The moment of impact.
The moment of impact proves potential for change. Has ripples effects far beyond what we can predict. Sending some particles crashing together. Sometimes the crash leads to a wide spread implosion. When Kurt had gotten off the phone with Lyla who was fully fledged on board with being her granddaughter's lawyer, ice filled Kurt's bones like a harsh winter chill as his mouth dropped open at the news that appeared on the screen before his shock turned into a harsh glare.
That little bastard.
It didn't take long for the news to spread and when it did, chaos ensued. Blaine and Kurt were on their phones when Santana, Brittany and Valerie came bursting through the doors, the Latina storming with rage. "WHERE IS HE?!"
Oh she was pissed.
Kurt came up to her and Kurt could see the hidden tears behind the rage. "Tana, it's.." "Please tell me she's alright?" Santana begged and Kurt sighed, shaking his head. "She's being very strong about it but.." Valerie and Brittany gasped. "Lyla is going to be her lawyer and we're suing the school, the Dean, Jackson and his brother." Santana quirked an eyebrow and Kurt explained. "His brother doesn't want to charge him because 'boys will be boys' but wants to charge Lucas for breaking an arm, a nose and beating Jackson damn near senseless." Santana chuckled and hugged Kurt, her tears falling. "Jesus, Porcelain. I thought this was over." Kurt allowed himself to feel the wave of sadness and nodded, a tear betraying him. "Me too."
Rachel, Jessie and Sadie had made their way along with Finn, Lindsey and Tyler and Mercedes and JJ. Up in the music therapy room, Landon and Evie had just finished their song when Lucas, Beth, Daniel, Valerie, Tyler, Sadie and JJ knocked and made their way in. "Hey guys." Landon said and Valerie, Sadie and JJ immediately hugged Evie, the three crying. Evie hugged back and felt a new wave of tears come over her. "Oh E." Valerie sobbed and Evie sniffled. "I could kill him." JJ said. "I wanted to." Lucas added and Evie looked at him, moving to hug him. She knew Lucas still felt guilty no matter what she said. "Uh, guys?" Tyler called and pointed, the group looking at the TV screen, Evie feeling Lucas' hold on her grow tighter. "That bastard! Tricked? He threw the damn party!" Daniel spat. Evie didn't notice she was having a panic attack until she opened her eyes again to see Lucas above her, talking to her.
"I'm here Ev. I'm here. It's alright. I'm here." He would repeat until Kurt came, ushering everyone out of the room so it was just he, Lucas and Evie. Kurt took over for Lucas and pressed his forehead to her temple, whispering until choking sobs left Evie's curled form. It broke his heart ten times over to see his daughter in such a condition while his son was struggling between anger and guilt, head tucked in his knees, his hands balled up tightly in fists. Kurt was lost but like he always did, he sang amongst Evie's sobs and Lucas' harsh pants. He remembered how lost and afraid he had been when Blaine had to go on tour without Kurt, Lucas and a toddler Evie. Blaine had fought tooth and nail about going but Kurt wanted him to because the fans had really gotten excited about the news and Kurt knew Blaine was itching to go. "We'll be fine." He had promised his curly haired husband.
It was a February day
When your dad came by, before going away
A tour bus in the driveway
The day it was suddenly realI told you not to come outside
But you saw that bus
And you smiled so wide
A real live tour bus in your driveway
We let you sit behind the wheelKurt's eyes were full of tears as he sat knelt between his children, placing his hands on their heads. Evie's choking sobs had simmered to sniffles while Lucas' fists loosened. They were listening.
Goodbye, goodbye
Now it's just me and my little guys
And the house felt so big, and I felt so small
The house felt so big, and I felt so smallThat night, I tucked you into bed
I will never forget how you sat up and said
"Is there another bus coming to our driveway?
A bus that will take daddy away"Lucas was young when Blaine had been gone for a month and though he called everyday, Lucas worried that another bus would come and take his other daddy away. When he had voiced this, Kurt had to hold back his tears and tucked his son into bed, kissing his head. "No baby, I'd never leave you. You or your sister."
And the house felt so big, and I felt so small
The house felt so big, and I—
And I knew there would be moments that I'd miss
And I knew there would be space I couldn't fill
And I knew I'd come up short a billion different ways
And I did
And I do
And I willKurt's tears began to fall, his voice growing thick with sadness as Lucas and Evie lifted their heads and crawled over, wiggling theirselves under his arms. Kurt shook with silent sobs as he held his children close to him, Evie placing her head on her father's lap while Lucas leant his head on Kurt's shoulder. They held him once like this when he had a really bad day and missed Blaine like crazy. He had cried over their wedding photo and found himself on the floor, Lucas and Evie hugging him while he cried.
But like that February day
I will take your hand, squeeze it tightly and say
There's not another bus in the drivewayYour daddy isn't going anywhere
Your daddy is staying right here
Kurt kissed Lucas' head, rubbing his arm while Lucas shook with hidden sobs, covering his face.
Your papa isn't going anywhere
Your papa is staying right here
Kurt leant down, Lucas shifting to cry on Kurt's back, kissing Evie's temple and moving some hair behind her ear, the girl softly crying.
No matter what
I'll be hereWhen it all feels so big
'Til it all feels so small
When it all feels so big
'Til it all feels so smallBlaine had came up to the door when he heard the crying and stopped at the sight of Kurt hunched over a crying Evie, Lucas crying on Kurt's back. It made Blaine tear up and quietly enter the room, kneeling down next to Lucas, placing his hand on his son's quivering back. Lucas turned his head, his eyes rimmed red and for a moment, Blaine saw his son as a toddler once more, afraid of thunderstorms and hiding under his blanket with a stuffed animal under his arms. With his other hand, Blaine had rested his hand on Evie's head, leaning in to rest his head on Kurt's, the man succumbing to his tears.
'Til it all feels so small
(Leaves a tissue box and water)
🤧🤧🤧🤧🤧When the tears had dried, Lucas sat up so Kurt could sit up and Evie sniffled, sitting up herself. "I can't do this. Daddy, Papa, I can't do this. I can't live like this. I don't want to live like this anymore." Her bravado resolve was breaking and Lucas, Kurt and Blaine immediately hugged her. "Hey don't say that. Don't you dare." Lucas said and Evie shook her head. "I know baby girl, I know. I've been there so many times and like you, I didn't know what to do. Sometimes the easier thing to do is just going one step at a time. We're not expecting this to go away immediately but you can't just ignore it anymore. You acknowledged it and that was brave enough but baby? You don't need to fight this alone. Let us help you." Kurt said, holding her cheeks before Evie fell into his arms.
"We're here Evie, we're right here within your reach." Blaine said. "And we're not leaving your side." Lucas finished.
