chapter three

Doyin's Pov:
"Doyin wait na. Why are you walking so fast" Melvin pants behind me

"Because we are late. And you spent half of the time checking yourself out in the mirror!"

"I just wanted to check if my hair was okay. It's our first day and I want to make my first impression good"

I sigh and turn to look at the most beautiful boy I've ever met. I've had a crush on this boy basically since the first day i met him. With his long black hair and brown eyes and caramel skin always leaving me mesmerized every time I see him. But he doesn’t feel the same way. Anytime our classmates would tease us, he would always tell them that I'm just like a sister to him in fact a brother and every time it would pierce my heart and I'll just have to smile to hide the pain.
I've learnt to live with the pain, I'm just happy that he's by my side as my best friend.

"Your hair is fine, your face is fine, your clothes are fine everything is fine!"

"I know dear" he smirks winking at me. Oh my heart

" mtchew abeg let's find cab. Nonsensity" i roll my eyes dragging him to the bustop

"Some people jealous me because i am beautiful. Nawa"

Emerald's PoV
We're on our way to school. I'm a bit mad at myself because I wasted time trying to pick one out of my daddy's car to take. I just ended up  asking the driver  to pick one. After picking natasha up. She turns to me, apparently having big news
"Guy did you hear the news?" My best friend natasha asks me.

"What happened?" I turn to her already bored. I love her but she's too hyper and bubbly  for her own good

"The owner of our school decided to hand out scholarship to five students"

"I'm sorry what?! How? Why?"

"Yes oh. I'm surprised you don't know about this, when it comes to school matters, you are the first to know. Oh look we're in school"

That is true. I travelled abroad during our one month holiday and i decided to take a break from my phone which was a big mistake by the way

" i wonder if they're friendly- omg is that a taxi?! Ew" Nat exclaims

Taxi? No one in our school uses a taxi because  everyone's parents here are influential and rich.  It must be the scholarship students.

"Ahan no naw, they should have taken an uber or something, they're spoiling the ambience of our school. I'm literally getting hives" natasha starts to scratch her body. I roll my eyes at her drama

"Don't worry nat I'll make sure they don't"

Melvin pov:

Oh boy look at the size of this school. It's like we traveled to another country.
"Doyin are you seeing this?"
She doesn't even reply, she's busy staring at the school mouth agape.
I shake out of it and drag her gently into the school.
Entering the school, I'm now convinced that we have transported to another country because damn

The halls are big enough to cover up to 1,000 students but I only see like 30 people.

And it seems like everyone has their own locker. Not ordinary table locker oh as in a whole human being can fit inside.

"Word of advice. If you want to the students to stop looking at you like animals in the zoo, i suggest that you close your mouth" a short fair girl says

"excuse me?" Doyin the temperamental creature asks ready for a fight.

"Oh I'm sorry. I don't mean to be rude, my name is peace okeke. I'm on the school's welcome committee and I've been assigned to show you guys around" the short girl says
I and Doyin introduce ourselves. Doyin still looks at her her with narrowed eyes. I pinch her to snap out of it and she glares at me.

"You guys are so cute. Are you together?" She asks looking at us all wide eyed.

" ah no oh" i laugh "we're just friends basically like siblings" i side hug Doyin and she smiles a tight smile. I guess she's still mad about the pinch. My mum made African salad, I'll give use it to apologize

"Aww that's too bad. well there are plenty girls and boys for everyone" peace says and laughs "welcome to Everest high school! I'll tell you and show you everything at lunch time. If you'll excuse me" she waves and leaves

I can't put my finger on it but i know coming to this school will change my life forever

Daniel's POV
"Broooooooooo" my best friend since we were in nursery school screams
He's quite loud

"How far my guy. How was your holiday" i greet

"Asking me like i didn't send you videos"

Nonso is a very mischievous boy always landing into trouble one way or the other. And this time he almost burned his house down. His parents sent him to  village where he learnt how to chop firewood and kill chicken.

"I hope you learnt your lesson" Emerald says coming to join us with natasha behind her. We all exchange hugs and smiles

"Of course not. My dad's new power bike is looking ready for a joy ride" he grins rubbing his hands mischievously

We all just shake our heads. Who doesn’t love this boy

"By the way have you guys heard about the new kids?" Nat starts

"Oh yes. I think there are five of them. I've only seen three so far" nonso says

"Nat and I have seen two of them. A boy and a girl. They came in a disgusting taxi" Emerald scowls

Oh boy. I smell problem

"Oh look at them there" natasha points at them "wow they're both attractive"

Emerald looks at them with her beady eyes and smiles "let's go and say hi" she says and starts walking towards them

Oh yes big big problem
