*Sheriff*

"I can't believe she is missing," I say with my face in my hands.

"It's gonna be ok Sheriff. We will find her," Coal says putting his hand on the sheriff's shoulder.

"Listen, I'm gonna go patrol for a bit and see if I can't find her, and while I do that go home and try to get some rest," Coal says grabbing his jacket off of the chair.

"You're right, Thank Coal you are truly the best friend a guy could have asked for," The sheriff says standing and grabbing his keys.

"It's what I am here for John," Coal says with a smile and heads out with John.

John climbs into his black F-250 and starts to head home. On his way he can't shake the feeling he should go by Kaitlyn's school and check there one more time now that there are kids in school. 'Maybe one of the kids there will know something' He says to himself as he turns left to the school.

John pulls up in front of the school and gets out. He goes inside and goes to the front desk. He sees the lady is on the phone so he waits. As he does he notices a girl with black eyes and piercing blue eyes sitting on a chair. She is wearing a blue dress. He then notices there is a red spot on the bottom part of her dress.

"That a pretty dress, you have," He says to her.

"T-Thank you, sir," She says quietly.

"I like the red spots on the bottom too,"

She just looks down. John walks over to her and sits next to her.

"Did you get in trouble?"

She shakes her head no.

"You don't want to talk to me?" He asks.

"I'm not supposed to talk to strangers," She whispers.

"Oh well I'm John, I work at the police department," He says showing her his badge.

She looks at it curiously.

"You wanna hold it?" He asks bringing it closer to her.

She nods and grabs it.

"What are you doing here?" She asks as she messes with the badge.

"Looking for my daughter. She hasn't been home since Friday," He says.

"What's her name?"

"Kaitlyn," He says as the lady at the desk calls for him.

He stands up to go to the desk when a small hand grabs his hand. He looks down at the little girl who now has tears in her eyes.

"Are you the man Kaitlyn said can help my older brother?" She says trying not to cry.

"Why didn't you come? She said you will help and you never came," She says getting louder and louder.

"Whoa hold on there, Kaitlyn never said anything about your older brother," John says kneeling next to her.

At this time several adults have come out of their offices to see what the screaming was about.

"Friday Kaitlyn said she will go to her daddy's work and tell him that she needs to be rescued. But you never came! We waited, We thought you would show up Monday since places close on the weekend. But you never came yesterday! Why," She says as she sobs.

"Oh dear, The last time I saw Kaitlyn was Friday morning. She never came to my office Friday after school. She went missing since school let out," John replies calmly.

"You mean she ran away?" Kaitlyn asks through her crying.

"Yes, but what is this about your older brother needing help?" John asks.
