Strangers

The weather is humid, a cold breeze covers the place. Melancholic bird songs, the serenity it gives to people makes us love nature more.

How can ex-lovers turn into complete strangers?. As though they have not shared so many memories together, as though they were not each other's home. Three days have passed since they got here, neither said a word to each other after that dinner, who will lower their guard?. Who will take the courage to talk first?. Funny how they long for each yet they pretend like they don't care.

The place became smaller.

Big elephant in the room as they say.

The woman is busy with paper work, the Agent is busy installing cctv around the place and planted some traps 100 meters away from both sides.

Any updates?. Nova asked.

Nothing new, the place is safe, I already planted everything just in case they manage to track us down. Blue stated.

The stolen vehicle, leads to one of their hideouts. The team is on their way there. Nova informs her.

What?. Why would you send them? It's a trap Boss, they are luring our team into an abyss. Pull them back. She frantically said.

Why?. I don't see any reason at all not to bust them with one of their drug dens. Nova argued.

Can't you see?. They have stolen that vehicle for what? Like 4 days now? And not a single move from them. 4 days is way too long. Our team is in danger if you do not pull them back, NOW!. She strongly said.

It made the boss think. How can she missed that.

Eagle team, do you copy?. Nova contacted the team. Do not engage, I repeat do not engage.

Copy that Boss. The Eagle team finally replied.

The plan has been changed, do not engage until I give you command. Stay on the perimeter and observe the place. Report back as soon as you see some movements. Do you copy?. Boss commanded.

Copy that.

I'll go there. Blue said to Nova when she called her back.

Stay where you are Agent. The subject is your top priority. Nova reprimanded her.

That is my team too. I have to make sure nothings gonna happen. Blue said.

I want you to trust them, as of now your only supposed to be concern is the subject. Nova said, ending the call.

The Agent punching the attic wall loud enough to make the woman run to her.

Is everything okay?. She asked.

Yeah. Just something at work. Blue said without looking at her.

Why don't we have some wine at the balcony?. To ease things up. I need a break from work too. Lourdes offered.

The woman is unsure if the Agent will agree. They never really talk these past few days, maybe what she is offering could help them break some barriers that seem to be so solid in between the two of them. It feels like they are avoiding each other and try to focus both on their work. Words left unsaid, emotions left unnoticed. Things that really matters.

I guess I needed that too. Blue said.

Which made the woman smile in surprise.

A smile that did not go unnotice by the Agent.

So damn beautiful. She said to herself which made her stop dead on her track.

The woman notice it.

What's wrong?. She asked.

Nothing. She said in panic mode. Damn it.

They are laughing hard as they recall some funny moments.

Yeah, yeah, you remember that time that you tried to bake some cake because you wanted to surprise me on my birthday and you end up making it all black because it was burnt out. Lourdes recalled laughing.

Which made the Agent laugh hard too.

I was so confident that I made it right, imagine my face when I opened the oven and all I see is a damn black cake. Damn it.

That was epic and hilarious. They both said and looked at each other, both ended laughing even more.

Kidding aside, I did feel special that day. Though it was black, your efforts in making that truly did the magic thing. Lourdes said in all seriousness.

Well, you are special and you deserve the best. Blue said.

They looked at each other. Eyes locked. The woman sees something, the Agent sees something.
