Chapter 1

The night time is a wonderful place, a place of freedom from responsibilities of the world, free to relax and to have fun, free to do whatever they want.

For some humans this fact is true, but one species where this fact is definite, are the vampires.

In the current day and age, many of them are still around but they're not as recognisable as they used to be, at least not in the daytime, you'd probably have a hard time finding them sticking out from the crowd as they usually dress up as regular humans, but at night time, is when they get to go all out.

At night is when these vampires are allowed to be free, however the time to have fun slowly drains with an ongoing war between two supernatural factions: the Brotherhood Of Vampires and the Children Of The Moon, a faction composed of lycans, both factions have fought for centuries both are apex predators and feed on the same food source. Said food source is becoming more scarce and conflict over the rare resource continues more and more to this day.

This leads us to now, as a group of Vampires slowly make their way towards a lycan stronghold, this group was lead by one Vanessa Solovyova.

Vanessa was 17, she was a tall young vampiress with a pale complexion, jet black hair and slate red eyes. Her hair was tied up in a ponytail at the rear left corner of her head, causing her bangs to fall towards the right side of her face, and leaving a small curled lock of hair that reaches below her left ear, her attire was black and red colored. It consisted of a black coat with a red brooch, arnaments and black gloves, her pants had garters incorporated into them.

Alongside her were two other vampires, Tendo and his sister Takara, they alongside Vanessa were making their way towards the stronghold in order to assassinate a Lycan general, after a few minutes of roof jumping they finally made it to their destination.

Vanessa "Alright, you two stay on lookout, I'll go in and work my magic!"

Takara "Sounds good!"

Tendo "Hold on now! The plan was to go in as a team, that's what the Count told us!"

Vanessa looked at Tendo as if he were an idiot.

Vanessa "Yes she did tell us to go together, but she didn't say that we had to complete the mission together now did she?"

Takara "Makes sense"

Tendo was now starting to get frustrated.

Tendo "What makes you think that you're better than me?"

Vanessa "It's simple, I am your superior in every way, in both position and skill, you two should be honoured that you're even in my presence"

Tendo "But I-"

Vanessa "So you two will behave yourselves and do what you're told, got it?"

Tendo merely facepalmed whilst Takara nodded, Vanessa then smiled vindictively at Tendo.

Vanessa "Khoroshiy mal'chik, now wait here"

She then leaped onto the roof of the stronghold and started to try and find a way in, eventually she found an airduct and used that to make her way in.

She eventually started to crawl along the airducts until she eventually found were she needed to be.

Vanessa "Eti ublyudki! What are they up to?"

She was looking down on two people approaching what looked like a sceptre on a table, since the moon wasn't out yet, none of the Lycans had transformed this gave Vanessa a chance to get the drop on them.

Takara "Sup Vannie!"

Vanessa "Kakogo khrena!?"

She looked back and saw that Tendo and Takara had followed her.

Vanessa "What are you doing!?"

Takara "Well I was fine with waiting outside but Tendo wanted to follow you in"

Vanessa looked back and gave Tendo a death stare, he ignored her and merely looked down and the situation at hand.

Tendo "We should listen in and figure out what they're planning, then report back to the Count"

Vanessa "Forget that, I came here to kill the general and that's what I'm gonna do!"

Takara "Looks like luck is your on side Vannie!"

Vanessa "Not Luck. Skill. Watch a while longer and you might learn something"

Tendo "Don't listen to her Takara, She'll teach you how to disregard everything the count has taught us"

Vanessa looked at Tendo with an annoyed expression

Vanessa "And how would you do it?"

Tendo "I would not draw attention to us, I would wait to pick them off one by one"

Vanessa "Yeah but that's booooring, I'd rather just kill him now!"

Tendo "But that's not the way of--"

Vanessa "My way is better"

Tendo scoffed at Vanessa

Tendo "Whatever, do what you want, get yourself killed for all I care"

Vanessa sneared at Tendo and then dropped down from the air vent.

As she landed, the people in the room immediately turned to face her, they were dressed in scruffy street clothes with each of their faces featuring a tired expression on their faces.

Vanessa then turned her attention towards the man with the Ring, his name was Thomas and was one of the main generals of the Children Of The Moon.

Thomas "Ah it is so nice to see you here my Dear Vanessa"

Takara looked at Tendo questioningly

Takara "Do they know each other"

Tendo shurgged.

Thomas "Do tell me Vanessa, what is it you seek?"

Vanessa "Easy..... your life"

She then pulled out her blade and rushed at Thomas only for him to catch her in mid air.

Vanessa "This is.... the strength of a Lycan.... but.... its not the full moon"

Thomas "That my dear is the power of the Ring"

Vanessa "What!?"

Thomas then flung Vanessa across the room, Takara and Tendo then dropped down from the rafters.

Tendo "You see! This is what happens when you rush ahead!"

Thomas then threw the ring to one of his men and turned to leave

Thomas "Do what you want with them"

The man then used the power of the staff to turn himself and his friends into Lycans earlier, the main man then charged at Vanessa.

Vanessa "Let go of me!"

The Lycan kept running until both of them were now outside, it kept trying to bite Vanessa with her fighting back as hard as she could.

She then remembered something, the blade on her forearm, she positioned her hand near the Lycans neck and then let it rip.

The silver from the blade penetrated the Lycans skin, causing it to suffer and die instantly, Vanessa was overcome by the adrenaline and soon passed out.

She then awoke 5 minutes later and saw that the entire stronghold was on fire, she looked up and saw Tendo walking out the building heavily scarred.

Vanessa "Looks like you made it out, Where's Takara?"

Tendo didn't answer.

Vanessa "Wh.... Where's Takara?"

Tendo again didn't answer, he merely threw the remains on Takaras outfit at Vanessa's feet, it was soaked in blood, Vanessa felt a pit in her stomach.
