Quiet Night

Around 1am I hear a soft knock on my door.

"Megan, you awake" I hear Joe say.

I sit the book down that I was reading and say "come in"

Joe came in with the fake blood still lingering in his hair.

"Demobats?" I say looking at him with a laugh.

"You know it" he said with a chuckle.

He looks at me, sits down on my bed "Is everything ok"

Trying to read his face I ask  "Why wouldn't it be?"

"Megan, your Instagram post" he says.

"Oh that" I say, turning away from him. "You wont be mad?"

"Have I ever?" He replied.

"I called things off with Tim. I know you and Maika were cheering for us, but I don't think It is going to work out"

"Don't be in a relationship for me, or Maika." Joe finished as he leaned in to hug me.

I felt relief again for the second time today. Joe really was my best friend and brother. Part of the reason we rented a house every season when it was time to film.

He stayed in my room for the next hour or so. He told me about the scenes they filmed tonight about a new opportunity he might have once done with Stranger Things.

It was nice to spend time with Joe tonight to take my mind off of everything. I was only now starting to become a little tired, so I reach for my book, only one more chapter I think to myself.

Before I put my book away for good for the night, my phone buzzs.

This time I did not respond. I put my book back on my night stand, shit off the lights and went to bed.
