The following weekend, Dacre had planned a picnic in the park. It was simple and sweet. The day was beautiful almost no clouds in the sky. It was simply the perfect first date.
"This is perfect Dacre" I said to him as we ate.
"Almost as perfect as you" he replied to me. I could feel my cheeks get warm again. I hated that he made me blush, I could never hide it.
"You are even more beautiful when you blush like that Megan." He said as he leaned in and gave me a gentle kiss on the lips. He grabbed my hand and gave it a squeeze before kissing my hand. He then stood up, pulling me up with him and said "I have a surprise for you"
"Dacre!" I said giving him a playful hit in the chest. "You don't have to, this picnic is just enough"
He gave me that mischievous smile that could make me melt and started picking up our lunch. Once complete, we walked back to his car, hand in hand.
He started driving and we arrive at my house.
"The surprise is you are bringing me home?" I say to him confused.
Without saying a word he gets out of the car, running around the car to my door and opens my door for me. He grabs my hand and leads me to my backyard.
The Christmas lights we had wrapped around our deck were lit, someone had pre-lit our fire pit and soft music coming from a small stereo.
"Dacre" i said turning towards him "you planned all this"
"Well..." he drawls out "I had some help" he finished, pointing to a window of the house, I could see Joe, Maika and Maya jump back to get out of view.
The day was winding down, the sun was starting to set. Dacre pulled me into the yard further and put on arm around my back and the other pulling my hand up.
We swayed back and forth to the music that was playing. I stepped in closer to lay my head on his shoulder.
"Are they still watching us?" I asked
"Oh you know it, Joe warned me before I picked you up too." He said laughing shaking his head, taking his hand and waving at the group in the window.
"As much as I want to keep this moment for ourselves, should be invite them down?" I ask. We smiled at each other and in sync waved the trio down stairs.
It did not take long for them to come down.
We sat around the fire pit, I sat between Dacre's legs, he rested his hand on my thigh and we talked with our friends. They would tell us how cute we were and how even though we didn't know it that they knew we were meant to be.
As the fire burned down Maya left for the night. Soon after Joe announced he would be heading home with Maika for the night, winking at Dacre and I.
"What was that about" I asked.
"He is leaving us alone, in the house, alone" Dacre said slowly.
"Then what are we waiting for" I said as I got up and started racing Dacre into the house, up to my bed room.
