"So, you going back to C-Sec?" (Y/N) asked, poking around on a data pad.

Garrus fiddled with his pistol. "Maybe. Not sure." He set it down before picking up his sniper rifle. "You gonna join up with the Alliance?"

"Nah, not officially. I'm with Shepard, not them." (Y/N) set his datapad down before messing with the tire on the Mako-5.

"But Shepard's with the Alliance. You run with her, you run with them." Garrus said, wiping off his gun. "That's how that works."

"I'd rather be exiled again before I ever work with the Alliance." (Y/N) said, using his biotics to remove the tire.

"Exiled? What do you mean?" Garrus asked, looking up.

(Y/N) looked over at him. "Huh? You're C-Sec, you should know the story behind that already. That, or I should've told you already."

"Eh, if so, I didn't retain it. Too much going on, I suppose." Garrus went back to cleaning his gun.

"Well, just to be sure, I'll give you the abridged version. You ever heard of Kroewner Valtrud?" (Y/N) examined the tire.

"Rapist and mass murderer? Yeah, I've heard of him." Garrus nodded, before shaking his head. "Guh, one of the nastiest humans I've read about. Heard he was executed."

"Yeah, well, he's my dad." (Y/N)'s brow furrowed.

Garrus looked up again. "Really? Damn, it's gotta suck being related to filth like that."

"Yeah. It did. It's why I was exiled." (Y/N) fitted the tire back onto the Mako.

"What? That's a Council decision, they really exiled you from the Terminus Systems for crimes you didn't do? Ugh, another reason to stay away."

"I was 14." (Y/N) continued, prompting Garrus to grunt in surprise. "Two out of three Councilmen voted me to exile. They had me taught to withstand the trials and torment of the galaxy, gave me an education and shit. Then off I went."

"Two out of three? Which one of them didn't want you exiled?" Garrus had put his gun down.

"Ironically, the Asari Councilwoman." (Y/N) sighed.

"Right, because your father's species of choice were Asari." Garrus said, understanding.

"Yeah. He also went after other species on the Citadel. Like Turians." (Y/N) stood up. "My mother is a Turian."

"Huh? But you're.. human?" Garrus said, also standing up. "How does that happen?"

(Y/N) deadpanned. "Adopted. I was adopted, Garrus."

"Oh, right. That makes more sense." Garrus opened a latch on his gun.

They looked around - they were in the lower deck of the Normandy; a one of a kind, state of the art Human Alliance warship. It was under the command of Kris Shepard, the first human Spectre, and current hero of the galaxy.

Shepard went through the galaxy with one sole objective; stop a rogue Turian Spectre named Saren from destroying all living organisms with synthetics called Geth and an ancient machine of death called a Reaper.

On Shepard's path, she took aboard several specialists and soldiers to help her.

The first, was Human Alliance Gunnery Chief Ashley Williams, a young woman who knew exactly who she was, and she was a soldier, through and through.

The next, was Garrus, a turian C-Sec officer who wanted something more, and was given the chance to achieve more.

The third, was Urdnot Wrex, a rugged Krogan mercenary who joined to bring the fight to Saren.
