>Hey (Y/N), I'm just testing to see if this connection is stable.

Hey. Yeah you're connection's stable, why do you need to check?

>Well, the connection to the rest of the Galaxy from the Fleet has always been iffy.

Wow, you're back home already? How have things been around the Fleet as of late?

>Not much more than the usual. Still in suits, still using rickety old ships...

Oh. Well, helping save the galaxy ought to have changed things for you, huh?

>Well, I am seen differently, yes, but I am still treated like any citizen. Which is fine. I'd rather not be put into the spotlight.

That's entirely fair. I wouldn't want that either.

>I suspected as much. So what did actually happen?

What do you mean?

"(Y/N), they're back with the title on the Normandy. You planning on coming with, or are you staying behind and messing with your omni-tool?" Jane interrupted (Y/N)'s line of concentration on the conversation he was having.

"Oh! Sorry, Shepard!" He stood up, and walked over to her. "So, what's Joker's thoughts on everything."

"Glad, I think. He didn't seem angry, so that's a start." Jane said. She smiled slightly. "I think he's just happy he gets to fly again."

"I'd be happy too, especially if I couldn't do much else." (Y/N) said walking towards the airlock of the new Normandy SR2. There was an oddly... Cynical tone to his voice.

".... Was that a jab at Joker?" Jane asked, a blank look on her face, obviously picking up on his tone shift.

"What? He'd agree... Probably."
(Y/N) looked to the side, realizing that his attempt at a joke wasn't... Well, funny. He decided to keep his mouth shut as he heard someone walking up from behind the two of them.

"Is everything about you a probably?" Miranda asked coldy, being the someone who had walked up. She didn't even wait for a response as she nodded at Jane and continued on her merry way.

(Y/N)... Really did not like her. The feeling was mutual it seemed, so there was no mystery there.

".... I assume Jacob's on the ship?" (Y/N) turned to Jane, who was scowling at the open door to the Normandy.

"... Yeah. Strange though, he wasn't on the datapad of squadmates Miranda gave me...." Jane rubbed her head as they began to enter the Normandy. " Speaking of which, (Y/N) I'm going to ask something very.. important of you." She stopped walking, causing (Y/N) to stop as well.

"Yes, Shepard? Is something wrong?" He looked at her, waiting for her question.

"... On that datapad, Miranda, as outlandish as it might sound, suggested that you assume the position of... Lieutenant Commander." Jane began, leaning on the wall of the airlock.
