The car door slams behind adrienne and I have to say, as scared as I am for my family... it feels nice to be back here. I feel safer here than I do at the palace these days.
Taking my sweet time seems to piss her off because she stalks over to me, grabbing my arm to guide me inside the manor.
Her tone is gruff and too strong, just like her grip on my arm.
"Princess get your ass inside and up to the bedroom. Ill be up soon."
I raise my brows and her and pull back slightly
"Excuse me?"
She shakes her head and rolls her eyes while giving up on guiding me inside. Instead she moves to the more forcefull option of dragging me along causing me to stumble over my own feet
"I said get your ass inside. NOW. Need i remind you that we just got shot at annalise?"
My throat tightens and I shake my head slowly as we cross the threshold. Shaking her off as the door closes, I walk towards the kitchen but she clears her throat in a way to get my attention. I spin on my heels and cross my arms
"What?"
"I said to get up to the bedroom and Ill be up soon"
Anger bubble in me. God am I so fragile she needs to protect me so much that im not allowed to leave her side?
Adrienne slowly walks towards me. Usually I would back up into a wall but im not going to give her the satisfaction of that. I stay planted in my spot.
"I dont think theyre going to shoot me in the house adrienne. Ill be fine, just leave me alone."
My heart flutters as she steps close enough for me to smell her shampoo and see the individual eyelashes atop her raging eyes. Her hand closes around the back of my neck holding me in place. Adriennes tone is icy and unnerves me to my core.
"They arent the threat anymore sweetheart. Its my turn to deal with your disrespectful ass."
She eyes the staircase behind me before continuing
"So get upstairs, and I will be there soon to deliver your punishment"
I sputter in shock
"Punishment?! Adrienne for what?!"
"Lower your voice. Its not very princess like of you. Ill let you reflect on why you think youre being punished. When I ask you upstairs what you did wrong and you give me the wrong answer, that adds on to your punishment. Clear?"
I turn to go upstairs, my mind already reeling but Im yanked back by my hair and I gasp reaching for it to take away the sting. Instead adrienne pulls my back against her front and whispers in my ear so lowly I can feel her warm breath tickling me. It sends shivers through my body and a part of me is excited for whats to come. A small part, but still, a part.
"Am. I. Clear."
"Crystal, now let me go reflect before you annihilate me."
She chuckles darkly letting me go, but not before giving my ass a smack. I scurry up the stairs and leave her burning gaze when I round the corner to our bedroom. What are my options here. I can apologize for accusing her, no doubt thats what shes talking about. Right? Or I can play innocent. I could also be blissfully ignorant. God im exhausted. I get out of my clothes and get ready for bed as I contemplate my options. I wait a few minutes on the bed but before she can come into the room to end my suffering, I crash from all the adrenaline and pass out on top of the bed. No blankets, lights on.
