~King's Cross station ~

There was a great deal of excitement on platform 9 3/4. Especially for the newly wizards, for whom taking the Hogwarts Express was a first and a long-awaited moment.

-Well, I think it's time to say goodbye, said Faustus, smiling benignly at his daughters.

-Behave yourselves and listen to your teachers. Especially you, Daphne. This is the year of the O.W.L. and I expect you to honour your house and your family, her mother added with a confident tone.

Daphne closed her eyes and nodded with a slight sigh in response.

It was time to get on the train. But before she turned to leave, Daphne couldn't help but walk up to her father and hold him in her arms one last time. She was going to miss him.

Her father returned her embrace and placed a soft kiss on the top of her forehead.

-Oh dear, I'm going to miss you and our conversations. But we will see each other again soon. In just three months you'll be back for the Christmas holidays. Until then, try to have fun and live each day to the fullest.

He winked at her before taking Emerelda's hand in his. Daphne and Astoria took the luggage Ely had left by their side and headed for the coaches.

-Don't forget to write to us once in a while !" her father waved at her.

The two girls waved goodbye and met up again for good. Daphne's heart clenched in her chest. She was now entering fifth year, and by now she should have gotten used to saying goodbye to them. And yet, every time her parents left them on the platform, a feeling of nostalgia came over her.

Daphne and Astoria did not linger on the track any longer. Already they were crossing the corridor of the train, looking for the compartment where the other members of Pansy Parkinson's gang were supposed to be.

Daphne had been part of the Pansy gang since her first year at Hogwarts. Indeed, her membership of the Greengrass family and her advantageous appearance had led to her being approached by Tracey Davis, Pansy's closest friend, to join the newly formed group of witches considered to be the Slytherin elite. She had never had a particular affinity for Pansy or Tracey, but wanting to fit in when she entered Hogwarts, she had allowed herself to be recruited.

-Irene ! exclaimed Astoria who had just seen one of her best friends.

She then turned to her elder sister.

-I'm going to join her before there's no more room, it's starting to fill up here. I'll see you in the Great Hall or in the common room ! she said as she walked away excited to see her friend again after these two long summer months.

Continuing along the compartments, Daphne spotted Tracey Davis, Millicent Bulstrode and Adalinda Erin in one cabin, but no sign of Pansy. The three Slytherins turned to her, and Millicent waved her in with a smile.

-Daphne, there you are at last ! Millicent said excitedly. Sit down next to Adalinda, we need to tell you what we saw when we arrived on the platform earlier !

Adalinda moved closer to the window to give her more room and gave her a shy smile. Daphne returned her smile and put her things on the luggage rack above her before sitting down.

-Where's Pansy ? asked Daphne, curious that the one who used to be their leader and know everything before anyone else, wasn't already with her gang, ready to tell the latest gossips.

-Precisely ! she hastened to answer her with a little malicious smile. That's what we wanted to talk to you about ! Guess who was clinging to Draco's arm, both wearing a brand-new prefect badge !
