Nyx awoke in her dorm, not seconds after the headmaster had left Tom Riddles classroom. Her book was knocked onto the floor, earning a sigh from Iris and a groan from Abraxas. The first thing she wanted to do was tell them about her dream. Tell them about what she saw. But she only apologised for startling the group, and removed her head from the blonde mans shoulder.
The three were piled onto the Malfoy's bed, all reading their own texts. They often settled in Abraxas' room, he was a head boy and shared his dorm with no one. Iris was curled up at the end of the bed, a book about ancient spells held in her hands. Nott and Malfoy lay side by side at the top of his bed, each of them reading books given to them by their professors.
Once Nyx had fallen asleep, her head dropped onto her friends shoulder. He allowed her to stay there, his arm wrapping around her. Iris had seen this and rolled her eyes, but quickly shoved her nose back into her book. She was used to seeing the pair act like that, and it puzzled her. They almost seemed like a couple, but the two had their differences. Abraxas was different from Nyx. He drank, held parties, fucked whoever he wanted, and he was just flat out rude to everyone but his friends.
Nyx preferred to stay in, stay sober, and stay a virgin. If you could count the time she had let Abraxas finger her in the library, but she never counted that. Iris was the placeholder of the group. She was gentle, kind, and a people pleaser. She was also lesbian. She had held a crush on Nyx since childhood, and it never went away. But she wanted what Nyx wanted, and if Nyx wanted to live her life with Abraxas, that was okay.
The Zabini was first to break the silence.
"Are you- okay?" Nyx just nodded at the question, her heart was racing and her brow was sweating. She sat up, ignoring the furrowing brows of her friends. She snatched her book up from the floor and got up, straightening her skirt out.
"I'm fine. Bad dream" She was telling the the truth. She wanted to stay with her friends, they made her feel good. Iris gave the standing girl a concerned look, the Malfoy's eyes just returning to his book. He knew how this would plan out. Iris would take Nyx's things back to their shared dorm, and convince Nyx to stay the night with Abraxas. Iris knew that the man would never hurt her beloved friend, so she wasn't too wary about them being alone.
It was a matter of minutes until Iris had left, the situation panning out just as the man knew it would. He was now left alone with Nyx, and he set his book down to completely look at her. She looked terrible, but also somewhat pleased?
"You okay, girl?" Abraxas shut his book while he spoke, gently tugging Nyx back down to the bed.
"Yeah- yeah, I'm okay. I just had a weird dream" Nyx let herself be pulled, accepting the touch. She tucked herself close to the Malfoy, his arms wrapping around her body.
"You want to talk about it? You seem awfully shaken up for just a dream" The girl shrugged, wondering if she should tell her friend about what she had dreamt. After a few seconds, she decided she would.
"I was at the lake, it was around sunset. I was there alone, until it got dark.. and the trees- it sounded like they where whispering to me. And then the Professor-" She stopped herself there, realising how stupid it sounded once it was said aloud. Abraxas stayed silent, just listening to her. He knew that if he waited long enough, she'd finish talking.
But she didn't. The silence went on for a few minutes before he cleared his throat. The sound startled the girl, and she inhaled sharply. He noted her jumpiness, and almost wondered if he should let her go back to Iris. But he was much too selfish, and wanted her to stay.
"I don't want to sleep in my skirt and jumper, Brax" With that, she got out of his hold and stood up, walking over to his dresser. He said nothing, just watching her. He felt strongly for the girl, and normally just let her do whatever she pleased.
He looked away once she begun to take her clothes off. He was still a gentleman, he didn't watch her. And plus, his curiosity about her dream was burning. He wanted to know what had upset her, he needed to know. He was madly in love with her. Everyone knew, but she seemed not to. He was too caught up in his thoughts to notice the girl crawl into bed.
"Night Brax. Love you" Her words brought him back, and he smiled. He began to rest his arm across her body again, holding the girl close to him.
"Goodnight Nyx. I love you too" He fell asleep awfully quickly, while Nyx stayed awake. The thoughts of her dream wouldn't leave her head, and it was hard for her to fall asleep. She stared at the wall, the light snores from Abraxas kept her grounded. She loved him, she did. But not like he loved her. Not yet.
Some time around midnight, her eyelids became heavy. She buried her face into the blondes arm, sleep fully washing over her. It was a dreamless sleep, she was almost thankful for that. But she missed the face of her Professor.
