Flopping down on my bed, I let out a groan. In the group chat, I had told Phoenix and Bob everything, but I hadn't told Bradley. It's not that big of a deal, right? Nothing happened, so what's the point of telling him if it doesn't even matter?
Placing my phone on the charger, I stood up to get ready for bed.
Once I was in pajamas, which consisted of a shirt Rooster had forgotten and a pair of shorts, I crawled into my comfy bed.

"Uh, oh." Victoria piped up as I was wiping down the counters. "What?" I questioned, turning to her. "The guys from last night just showed up." She replies, motioning her head towards the rowdy group that just walked in.
Glancing over at Bradley, he was taking a swig of his blue moon.
"I gotta tell Phoenix." I laugh, coming out from behind the bar as they approach and rushing over to Natasha.
She jumps when I place my hand on her shoulder. "What? What?" She laughs, turning to me. Bob notices my presence and turns his attention to us.
"Remember those guys I told you about last night?" I ask, leaning against the half wall.
"Yeah, why?" She asks, looking behind us.
"Backwards hats at the bar." I nod my head towards them discreetly. She whips around, following my lead. "Those dickbags?" She asks. Shrugging, I pulled away.
"Yep. I gotta get back to the bar." I laugh, making my way back to the bar.

Glancing up, I see Bradley with the guys trailing behind him, Phoenix right beside him, making his way towards the group of guys. "Oh, god." I mumble under my breath.
His large hands clasp directly onto the guy who made the comments as he glanced up at me. Shaking his head, he leaned closer to the guy. I couldn't make out what he was saying.
The guy's eyes widen as he looks around his table, which was surrounded by Navy Aviators before landing on me. Furrowing my eyebrows, I watched the conversation.
With one last glare, Rooster sarcastically pats his back before walking over to me. "Hi, babe. You don't have to worry about them." Rooster leans against the bar as I come around.
"Thank you, you didn't have to do that." I gently smile, craning my neck for a kiss. He chuckled before pulling me in by my hips and pressing a sweet kiss on my lips. Pulling away, he presses a quick kiss on my forehead.
"Anything for you. I'll let you get back to work." He nods, joining the guys at the pool table.

Laying down on my mom's couch, I tugged a blanket over me as I watched Amelia pick a movie. "Did you ever fix that problem with your friend?" I ask.
"Natalie? Oh yeah, we're fine. We worked the problem out and we're good now." She affirms, laying on the other couch.
"Are you scared?" She suddenly asks after a few beats of silence. Furrowing my eyebrows, I looked over at her.
"Scared for what?" I question.
"This mission. What if Rooster doesn't come back? Or Maverick? You have a lot at stake here." Her voice softens and she sits up.
"I'm going to be honest. I'm terrified for them. But they're incredible aviators, I have faith they're going to come back." I softly smile, trying to ease my own nerves. Even though I was pissed at Maverick, I was just getting to know my father and there was a huge chance I could lose him and my boyfriend in one go.
"Can we watch the movie, please?" I feel my heart start to sink as all these thoughts came to mind. She slowly nods, starting the movie. "I'm sorry for bringing it up." She replies.
"It's alright." I sigh, laying back down and watching the movie, trying to push those persistent thoughts out of my head.

Hearing my doorbell go off the next day, I drop my pen on my kitchen table before making my way to the front door.
The door swings open to reveal Bradley in my doorway, a solemn expression on his face with a bouquet of flowers in his hand.
"B, I didn't know you were stopping by." I gently smile, his expression making my chest tighten. "I need to talk to you." He replies, his voice urgent. Nodding, I open the door wider to let him in.
He steps inside, letting me close the door behind him before placing the flowers on the accent table I had by the door.
"What's going on? Are you okay?" I question, gently placing my hand on his bicep.
"The mission got moved up." He replies, placing his hand on my hip as he looked down at the space between us. His body heat radiated towards me as he pulls me closer to his frame.
"Moved up? To when?" I soften my voice. The ache in my chest only worsened as I looked up at him.
"We're leaving Tuesday." He replies, finally looking into my eyes. My heart immediately drops. That's two days away. I could lose him in less than 72 hours.
"Oh." Was all I could get out. It was like all my words vanished into thin air, and all I was left with his name.
Instead of saying anything, I wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled him down into a hug. His body melts into mine as he wraps his arms around my waist.
Resting a hand on the back of his head, I cradled his head. He was the best thing to happen to me, and in two days I could lose everything.
"I'm sorry." He whispers into my neck. My ability to speak hadn't returned yet, all I could think about was him. So, instead of talking, I pressed a soft kiss on his shoulder.
