Today was Saturday. Selena hasn't seen or heard from Demi since her mom dropped her at her home yesterday. Saying she was a bit worried was an understatement. They had exchanged numbers the day before so surely Demi would have texted or even replied to the ones sent to her. Selena was so worried she thought about breaking her mom's rule and taking her car to go check on her.
Anyone would've been worried about a friend if they had told them what Demi told me yesterday, right?
Selena thought to herself. It was almost eleven o'clock and Demi hadn't replied to the five texts Selena sent. She couldn't help but feel like she was annoying her.

10:39 amShe checked her phone for the last time, the worry starting to eat its way through her. The brunette really didn't know what to think at this point. She did say she was fine, so Selena shouldn't worry. She decided to distract herself, she turned on the TV and watched an episode of Spongebob.
"... Squid! It could be worse." .
"Yeah. You could be bald and have a big nose."
"Never gets old." Selena laughed, her distraction working momentarily. Then she felt her phone buzz. Her chest clenched at the words.

I'm not okay.
11:05 am***
It was the night of homecoming, Demi was waiting in the living room for Todd to arrive. She checked her phone, he's five minutes late. Time speeds up by an hour and Demi is standing in the middle of sweaty, drunk teenagers, still no sign of Todd. The music is so loud she can feel it reverberate through her chest. In a dark corner across the room she sees Selena, the colorful lights from the DJ illuminating her face. She pushes her way through the crowd trying to reach her, everytime she looks up its as if shes ten feet farther. She starts to yell her name but the words catch in her throat, Todd is standing right next to her, his arm around her shoulder and her arm around his waist. They both make eye contact with her, Todd leans down and kisses Selena, his hands roaming around her body. Demi stands there frozen amongst the teens, her insides feel as if they've been twisted. Selena and Todd finally break apart, Todd looking at her with an animalistic hunger. They both turn to Demi and start laughing, an evil sound that Demi will never forget. The laughter comes from every direction, the crowd of teens oblivious to the sound keep on dancing. She's on the floor now, eyes shut tight, covering her ears with both hands. She finally opens them expecting to see the feet of the crowd, instead she sees every eye on her, they've stopped dancing and have gathered to spectate. Demi uncovers her ears and hears nothing, the musics gone, the laughters gone. She sits up and starts to ask what's wrong when the floor rumbles. She looks down and sees that she's waist deep into the ground already, no one helps. She's screaming and flailing around trying to get out, that only makes it worse. Selena suddenly appears next to her, she leans down and says "You're finally gunna be reunited with your parents." The music begins again and the crowd starts dancing, Demi's vision fades and she hears nothing.
Demi's eyes fly open, her hand clutching her chest as she sits up in bed. She feels as if she's run a marathon, her breathing is labored and she's worked up a sweat. She let's herself fall onto her back, her hand over her eyes.
