David walks into a small dive bar on the outskirts of Nashville, Tennessee with his friends.

He's dressed in a blue pearlsnap that's hiding beneath his brown coat, black wide-brimmed cowboy hat and boot cut jeans.

He sits down at a small table near the back, picking the chair closest to the back wall. "What can I get y'all?"

His friend, Ryan's girlfriend Bethani asks for a whiskey sour, Ryan himself tells the sweet older bartender he wants the same as his ole lady, Beth. "And for you, sir?" She asks, writing down the couple's drinks on a small, stained piece of paper.

"Just a bud light please." He smiles sweetly.

There's a short girl in the table next to David's with strawberry blonde hair dressed in an oversized hoodie with the words 'Tennessee Volunteers' in orange stitching over the gray material.
She's wearing what he can only imagine to be shorts, as he can't see anything but her long tan legs peeking out from underneath the wooden, stained table.

Ryan sees David gawking at something behind him to he turns around to see the girl with a light blush coloring her cheeks.

Those two boys are lookin' at little ole her.

David takes his cowboy hat off, laying it on the table in front of him as he shoots the blonde his famous goofy grin. She smiles back at him.

"You like her don't you?" Ryan grins.

"What? Pfft, no.."

It's about that time he looks over and sees the blonde with messy waves smiling at her phone.

"He definitely does." Bethani says, pushing a stray strand of hair out of her face. It must've fallen out of her bun.

David rolls his eyes.

"What are you waitin' for? Go shoot your shot. Worst she can say is no."

David takes in a deep breath as he stands up with his beer in hand, coming over to her table.

"Hi." His voice says with a little extra twang coating his deep voice. "This chair taken?" He asks with a hand on the back of the splintering wooden chair.

"No." The girl says shyly, slipping her phone back into her back pocket.

A few drinks later

David and this girl get to talking after a while. The words just sorta.. flow.
She's easy to talk to.

"I like cheap drinks and tattoos and Morgan Wallen," she pauses to take a sip of her drink. "What about you?"

He drums his fingers against the wooden table. "I like late night bonfires, Yellowstone, Whiskey Myers and lifted trucks with mud on the tires."

She nods, the whiskey from her last shot of Jack Daniels burning her throat.

"Where'd you grow up at?"

"I grew up here on the outskirts of Nashville on my daddy's homestead, you?"

"I grew up in the Appalachian Mountains, south of the Mason-Dixon in a small town area."

David was feelin' like a million bucks with this girl.

By the end of the night David exchanges numbers with her, his phone in her hand and her phone in his.
He puts himself into her contacts while she does the same in his phone.

"I'd love to see you again sometime soon." David gives her his famous ornery grin, her shooting him back a sweet smile.

"I'd love to go out on a date with you." She says, picking at the peeling white nail polish she'd done herself a few days prior off her shirt nails.

"How's a movie sound? You, me, date night."

"I'll be there."

"7pm? I'll pick you up?"

She nods, picking up her purse and putting her glasses back into her bag, grabbing her wallet out of it before David stops her. "Let me pay."

"Are you sure? I could split it with you."

"Yes ma'am I am." He says, sliding a few bills to the bartender.

Ryan and Beth are talking at the same table and the two stand once they notice David talking to the blonde.

Ryan holds onto Beth's hand, squeezing it when the couple go to stand by the door to wait for David, as he'd rode to the bar with them.

"I've gotta go but I'll see you later." He shoots the girl a wink earning a light blush coloring her cheeks back from her. "Bye!"

Two days from now, 6:30pm

David's in his old Ramcharger at the cookout drive thru with the windows down, listening to some old George Strait songs as he waits for his order to be done.

He's picking everything he needs up for his date with his new hopefully, if he gets lucky enough, girlfriend.

Once he gets the food he's on his way to Walmart picking out the movie.
One of his personal favorites. He hopes she'll love it as much as he does.

He hops back into his truck with his Redbox movie, "Pure Country" starring George Strait from 1992.

He makes a quick stop back at his house and gets everything set up.

Movie into the DVD player, blankets on the couch, pillows out the ass, popcorn and the food he'd gotten from Cookout on the coffee table.
It was perfect for a small town boy from West Virginia and a small town girl from the outskirts of Nashville, Tennessee.

His clothing choice was sorta questionable, but hey, if she's gonna date this boy shes gonna have to like his clothing. Even if it is weird.
He chose to wear his camouflage pants with his Air Johns thinkin' he's so stylish.

The full moon rising above the truck as he drives to her house with the radio quiet in the background.
Hell, you can barely hear the radio over the Ramcharger anyway.

"Hey!" She says, dressed in a dark blue sundress with white flowers on it. "Hi." He says back with a grin.

They get to talking again on the way to his house about the most random things.

"All I care about's my friends, my family and my Lord and Saviour,"

"Right?"

"It's like don't ask me for my opinion, I don't want y'all to get offended. Everybody's just so sensitive, it's crazy it's ruined so many friendships."

"Why do people even ask about our opinions then act like we aren't allowed to have 'em?"

He nods. "Why would I care about my haters?"

She yawns as she leans into his side.

The two get to his house and watch Pure Country together, fingers interlocked in the couch under the blankets.

Instead of using the many pillows David had got out for her, she lays her head on his chest listening to his heartbeat as the movie goes on.

"I love you."
"I love you too."
