Woods outside lining the narrow dirt road that led towards a small Honky Tonk bar on the outskirts of Nashville, Tennessee while the pale neon sign that lit up the dirt in front of the building shined.Somewhere off in the distance a dog's bark could be heard, and another howling at the Honky Tonk Moon above.
-
Randy smiles to himself while Y/N slipped her hand in his, looking up at the bright moon that's pale glow lit up the mixture of dirt and gravel below their feet, making the beautiful scene that looked like it could've been plucked out of a movie even more stunning. He opens the door to the bar for her with a faint ring from the bell above. "Ladies first."
Y/N smiles. "Thank you."
The second the two stepped into the weirdly un-crowded bar a million classic country songs filled their ears from the jukebox off in the corner.
A few men were at the pool table chalking up the cues and breaking up the pool balls while they all talked, their drinks nearby them.
"Hello sir, ma'am." The bartender says with a sweet smile. "What can I get you two?"
"Whiskey sour, please, sir." Y/N looks over at Randy. "Rum and coke, please."
"Whiskey sour and a rum and coke?"
Y/N nods, taking a seat at the bar.
Randy sits down beside her, looking up at the tv in the corner that's playing old reruns of Dukes Of Hazzard almost on mute, but not quite.
The bartender slides both of their glasses their way, the ice in the glasses clinking together.
"Thank you." Y/N takes both the glasses off the granite counter, handing Randy his and keeping hers.
"Thanks, darlin'." Randy places a soft kiss to her cheek that makes butterflies swarm in her belly.
She looks over, out the window, and the moon was miraculously in view-first time it's done that in a while.
She leans into Randy's side, the blue smoky haze of the bar blurring her sight just a bit.
The pale shine from the moon beamed down inside the bar through the window onto the young couple, making her feel a tad bit more special than before.
All the troubles in Randy's mind seemed to fade away while he spent time watching old TV shows at their favorite bar, feeling like he was on top of the world with her by his side.
He didn't have a single worry at all while he sat there.
Y/N just now started realizing the sawdust and cigarette ashes that gathered on the wooden floor, and how that old screen door squeaked whenever it opened and closed and a person would slip inside with the ring of a bell.
Randy wraps an arm around her, pulling her slightly closer as if she couldn't get close enough to him.
Slowly, darkness fell outside around the bar, filling the former sunset over with a dark black sky filled with stars, and of course..
That same Honky Tonk Moon..
Stars were winking bright, and old hoot owls were calling from the surrounding trees that stood tall.
Randy sighs contently.
This night was admittedly perfect, even though they did have to walk to the bar because his old Ford F-150 broke down on the side of the road, but hey, their night spun around for the better once they set foot in that bar.
He wished this night would never end and for that Honky Tonk Moon to keep shining down on him and Y/N-his baby.
