Zach was running with Y/N on a short stretch of grass amidst the mud surrounding her house.
Zach catches up to her with an arm snaking around her middle, her tripping over her own feet before the two tumble to the ground below.
Y/N squeaks, falling hard against his chest as his back makes solid contact with the half-grassy ground."Zach!" She laughs, rolling off him onto the little patch of dead, yellowing grass beside him.
He smiles. "I love you."
She lets out a breath. "I love you too."
He pulls her into him, hugging her before he plants a light kiss on her lips.
It's sprinkling in Oklahoma, about to become dark outside as the pink sunset starts to fade into black and the stars start to faintly shine.
Zach starts to get up, wincing at the sudden pain in his back.
He hit the ground hard."Are you okay?" She asks, letting him take her hand as he gives her a fake smile. "I'm fine darlin'." He lets out a shaky breath.
She raises a brow at her boyfriend. "You ain't looking okay."
"Gee, thanks." He rolls his eyes, playfully boxing her in the arm as he uses her hand to help himself up, and off of the muddy ground. "I'm awful cold.." he mumbled as the two walk back inside their shared house that was real tiny.
As soon as Zach sets his boot clad feet in the house, his pants 'n boots were off and thrown to the side.
She takes his rough hand in hers, leading him to sit down on the leather sofa with a soft blanket laying over it with a few pillows strung messily on top of the western, cow print blanket. "You're always takin' care of me when I'm sick, and do stupid stuff so.. let me take care of you this time." She says softly to the tall blonde boy on the couch with his hand running through his damp hair.
He smiles sweetly. "Thank you darlin'," he pauses, licking his lips. "I don't know what I'd do without you."
"Anythin' you want me to do for ya?" She says, bending down in front of the fireplace, flicking a tiny switch on the bottom to turn it on, the fire lighting up the small den of the barn-turned-house.
"Maybe a cup of tea, and just let the fireplace burn, burn, burn and come cuddle." He chuckles a bit at his last few words as he watches the orange fire flicker behind the black bars.
She nods. She'd do anything for this boy.
She fell head over heels for Zach and she wouldn't change a thing.
"Here you go baby." Y/N hands the cup of hot tea to Zach, slipping under the cow-print blanket beside him as she leans into his side.
The two watch the fire, listening to the faint radio playing in the background.
"Yeah, we put the miles on main.."
Zach puts his arm around Y/N, sitting his cup of tea on the coffee table.
He grins, pressing his lips to hers.
She runs her hand over his slick hair from the misting rain a few minutes earlier, desperately wanting to be as close to him as she could.
No matter how close to Zach she was, she couldn't be close enough. She presses him against the couch.
He pulls away, wincing again at the pain in his back. This time it hurt less, but the pain was still making its presence known to Zach.
"Zach? Baby, are you sure you're fine?"
"I'll be alright." He kisses her flushed cheek, running his hand across her lightly tattooed arm.
