#11: Godzilla's Revenge

Or All Monsters Attack or whatever else it gets called.

It's not the worst thing ever, I hear the vitriol against this movie gets excessive, so I'm not really going to contribute to it. Can't say I like it either though. I feel like Godzilla fans know why this movie is so lowly rated and most others aren't going to care so I don't feel any need to go into detail. However, isn't it weird that the kid's story treats his school bully as an epilogue and not as the climax? Fighting back against bank robbers seems a little too likely to end in the kid getting killed for it to be a good 'stand up for yourself' resolution in a kid's movie.

Other people have a point too however when they point out Gabara's really not a bad monster. I can see why some folk were disappointed with Singular Point not actually bringing him back in a redesigned state.

I almost didn't rewatch this one but it wasn't as painful as I remembered. Godzilla's rapid change in tone as soon as Gabara has the nerve to actually attack him is kind of funny. Just straight from "go fight your own battles" to "get out of the way, kid, I'm sorting this punk out." Still, a third full viewing probably won't happen, I might reference Gabara through it at some point but that's it.
