Marinette's body shook as Chat Noir carefully placed the ointment on her back. She couldn't understand what was happening to her. She tried like hell to keep herself from reacting this way, but she couldn't. Every time she was touched brought back memories of him!
His face, that damn drunks' face, was the only thing she could see. She could almost feel his hand on her throat as he tried to touch her. But that wasn't all.
She could also hear him. Chat Noir. Marinette could make out the hero's words, "The kiss was an accident, a- a mistake. It meant nothing." Followed by things he never said but were almost too real.
"I could never love you. I love Ladybug. You are not enough."
But why? Chat had apologized. He would never intentionally hurt her, yet she still heard the words following the image of the man's face. Every time she closed her eyes.
Marinette blinked her eyes quickly, attempting to erase the image from her mind. Why did the assault still bother her so much? She was Ladybug, for Christ's sake.
Chat Noir sighed as he felt the bluenette's body tremble under his touch. He felt hurt. Chat couldn't understand why she was reacting this way. It was as if she was afraid of him or scared of his touch.
Was it him? Was it his cataclysm? Why was she reacting this way? Why now? Chat Noir furrowed his brows as he thought of the night they kissed. Marinette had not reacted that way that night. He was sure of it.
He remembered it as if it was yesterday. That was all he could think about throughout his day. He had held her, kissed her with all the want and passion in the world. Their bodies had touched and grinded against each other, and she didn't react that way. So why now? What was she hiding? Why couldn't she talk to him about it?
"Marinette?"
"Mhmm,"
Chat Noir hesitated. He wondered if it was a good idea to push her into telling him what was going on, but at this point, he was worried about her. Something wasn't right. He knew it wasn't.
"Chat, what's wrong? Talk to me," Marinette pushed as she noticed his hesitation.
"N-no, it's nothing," Chat responded as he placed the ointment on the table and grabbed the compression wrap.
"Chat," Marinette pressed on. While Marinette had only gotten to know the real Chat Noir recently, it was clear that he had something on his mind, and whatever it was, it was bothering him.
Chat Noir sighed. He had to ask. He wouldn't be able to sleep if he didn't.
"Marinette, are you hiding something from me?" The hero finally asked.
Marinette gulped and turned to face him.
"W-what? Why would you think that?" The bluenette asked nervously.
"Marinette, just answer the question, please."
"I- I," she hesitated.
"I knew it," the leathered hero whispered.
"N-no! I am not hiding anything. I just-"
"Stop! You are lying to me. Why are you lying?" Chat Noir asked, feeling extremely hurt.
"You shiver when I touch you."
"I can hear your heartbeat speed up."
"You won't look me in the eyes for longer than two seconds. You-" Chat Noir halted.
