Six: Another Weird Dream
The end of the day finally arrived and Jayden felt pretty happy about it. It was their first day back so she was kind of exhausted. She had their first swimming practice of the semester tomorrow and wanted to get her homework done early so she could get a good night's rest in.
She didn't see any more of the Cullens, but that was before she made it to the parking lot. Her backpack slung over her shoulder and the scarf her dad almost strangled her with this morning hanging over her arm. Jayden spotted her usual group of friends and walked across the small piece of road to get to them.
Charlie was sitting on the hood of Mickey's car laughing at how Mickey was flapping his arms about while he was talking. For Charlie being the sheriff's son he was actually a really bad example. When people first find out who he is they immediately think he must be this well-behaved kid that all the kids at Forks High should take advice from and look up to. Jayden just hoped no one did especially the freshmen.
She loved Charlie as much as she loved Shawn but she couldn't deny his bad habits and that out of all her friends her dad was the most stressed whenever she and Charlie were alone together. He thought Charlie would sway his darling daughter in the ways of fun times, parties, drugs, and drinking, not that Charlie hadn't already tried and succeeded on some rare occasions.
Mione was leaning against her own car, a cheap red Ford Focus, and giggling at the unbelievable story Mickey was trying to tell them. Her long blonde curls were tied up in a messy ponytail as she hugged her Biology book to her chest and almost doubled over laughing.
"Jay!" Mickey called out once his eyes caught sight of her. She stopped beside him and he leaned his elbow down on her shoulder. "Jay, they don't believe my story about wolves in the Forks forest. You believe me, right?"
"Wolves?" Jayden asked, perplexed for only a second. "Nice try, sweetheart, but the only large animals in those woods are deer and maybe if you're lucky a cougar."
"You're mean, babe," Mickey sighed and his arm dropped from her.
"Sorry," Jayden smiled apologetically.
"Don't say sorry to him, he was talking crap anyway," Mione interjected.
She blew Mickey a kiss when he flipped her the bird, and Jayden and Charlie shared a look together before shaking their heads and laughing.
"Such children," Charlie commented as the two carried on arguing and silently cursing each other.
Jayden stared up at him and rolled her eyes. "Like you're any better, Swan Jr," she said and lightly smacked Charlie's knee.
He grinned down at her before slipping off of the Jeep's hood and landing in front of her. Jayden laughed when he had a certain look in his eyes and without warning, Charlie tried to tickle her but she was quick enough to dodge his attempts and run around the side of Mickey's car.
