Inspiration: Just A Little While - The 502s

It has been some months since my naivety one night brought me to pack my little suitcase, grab the money I saved since college and booked a flight to Los Angeles. It was a one way ticket. The first weeks I did what everyone did coming to Hollywood with all their big dreams and the glimmer in their eyes - I looked for jobs. I took a job as a taxi driver since I simply never was the kind of person who enjoyed serving people drinks or food and let's be real. What else could I have done freshly coming here without any experiences nor real aims. I am just another young person wanting to break out of their dull suburb life and I simply enjoyed driving the car.

Another plus was that it showed me around the city. Every day I saw new areas, every day there were different faces in my little taxi and I simply loved it.

One snowy Friday evening in winter the door of my cab opened in a hectic. "777 San Manuel Boulevard please." I looked into the mirror to see a beautiful woman with wild curls roaming desperately in her purse just to pull out a comb after some seconds and going through her shiny hair.

Since the beautiful customer seemed to be in a rush I started the cab and drove where my navigation system took me. It was about an hour drive which meant good money and since the woman in the back didn't seem to have any struggles with money I decided to let my charm earn me a nice juicy tip.

"So what does a beautiful lady like yourself do so far out of the city at night?" I smiled slightly trying to keep my voice as cool as possible so I didn't seem like one of these old white dudes who are desperate for any kind of attention from a beautiful woman like her - though, I was.

She didn't seem to take it in a bad way after all since I heard her chuckle low before she answers "Just business darling."

So a business lady huh. I thought to myself. I came to hold at a red traffic light which made me allow myself to look out of the window, gazing up at the buildings around me. On the other side of the street were some boys dancing, probably filming a TikTok, just some meters behind them I saw people taking a picture with someone dressed in a Spider-Man costume. I smiled to myself.

"It's magical here isn't it?" I heard the lady behind me again pulling me out of my trance. I shortly glanced at her through the mirror flashing her a wide smile. "That's what made me come here." I answered to her remark. She just nodded and gave me an approving hum. "You don't seem to be here since long." She stated making it sound like a question but also like a fact that she already knew.

Nonetheless, I told her she was right. We kept talking about anything possible for the rest of the drive. The woman in the back had an excellent humour and made me blast out in laughter multiple times throughout the drive by pointing at people while we waited at another red traffic light and impersonate what they're talking to each other at the moment in the most ridiculous voices and with the most hilarious topics.

When we got closer to the final destination my eyes widen. Infront of me was a building that seemed like a resort but also a casino. A place to relax but also gamble and have the best time during the night. My wide eyes did not go unnoticed by my beautiful passenger as a throaty laugh left her mouth. "Just let me out at the side darling." She stated, so I pulled over the car turning the upper half of my body a bit.

"That makes $115 please." I said while smiling at her. She really is beautiful. "Here you go honey." She states handing me two $100 bills.
My eyes widen again in shock. "I really appreciate that miss but I cannot take that much. Twenty would be more than enough." I said trying to give her back some change but she took my hand in hers making us both form a fist around the money. "I enjoyed the ride. You deserve it beautiful." She said winking.

That was the first time I met her.

Over the next few weeks she would get into my cab multiple times, the conversations between us never ran out, we got along perfectly well and after some time we formed a kind of trusting relationship. She told me her name was Billie. She ran a company. She rambled about all those stupid men that she had to negotiate with while I complained about the arrogant business people who didn't even had the manners to say "hello" or "goodbye" and were to pride to leave a little tip behind before they exited.

Billie always chuckled and would say things like "Lucky for you your favorite customer is here right now ready to give you a decent tip." That always made me blush for I wouldn't need one penny from her. I just enjoyed her company.

One night I finally asked her what I was asking myself all along. "How does it come that, no offense, a wealthy business woman from Hollywood does not have her own own chauffeur." I heard a big sigh escape her mouth. "I had one," she answered "but he quit out of nowhere the night I went into your cab the first time. Don't get me wrong I enjoy driving with you but it would make things easier to find someone trustworthy for that job again." I nodded understandingly.

"Good for me though." I said the smile visible in my voice. "Good for you?" She asked with a smile. "Yeah, I enjoy your company." I admitted. After that it fell silent in the car for some minutes. We stopped at a red traffic light and I dared to look at Billie through the mirror. She seemed to think. After that something we never had before accompanied our drive.

Silence.

As I drove the last few meters into the parking lot of Billie's final destination my thoughts started to cloud my mind. Should I have not say that? Did I cross a line? Was she uncomfortable now?

"Hey y/n." Billie's hand on my shoulder took me out of my trance. "Hm?" I simply asked still trying to come fully back to the here and now. "Would you like to be my chauffeur?" She plainly asked combing her fingers through her Strawberry blonde locks. My eyes widened at her and I just frantically nodded my head yes in excitement.

I would not have to deal with these lousy people anymore, it was a set job with stable wage and I got to see the beautiful woman every day, most of the time. It felt like playing in a lesbian romantic comedy.

"Hell yes!" I stated to make my point clear once more. Billie smiled at me, passing me her card and inviting me to her office the next day to discuss any further details.

She stepped out of the car, giving me that same old grin once more before saying her goodbyes. "See you tomorrow Miss Hollywood." I shouted out the window before driving off, riding into my very own Los Angeles adventure.

A/n: Hey hey, I'm not sure if this is good? I am planning und having three chapters of this though I don't know if it really has the potential. Let me know what you think. This shows off a lot of my creative process. I usually write to songs or personal experiences.
