~Maddison's pov~
"I'm afraid this might scar" Simmons said to Ward cleaning one of his cuts on his face
"Upside, you'll look badass. Dangerous" Skye said to him
"He's gonna be fine, though, right?" Fitz asked
"He will if you back up and give me some room" Simmons told him
"So what then?" Coulson asked us
"By the time we got to the Fridge, it was too late, it was overrun. Hydra everywhere" Ward told him
"We couldn't stop them" I finished
"What were they after?" May asked
"Everything" Me and Ward said at the same time
"They took weapons, alien artifacts, anything they could grab" I told them
"I assume that means the prisoners are no longer prisoners?" Coulson questioned, Ward and I nodded
"So Ian Quinn?" Skye asked
"I'm sorry. He's out. They all are" Grant told her
"And Garrett. Did he get away?" Fitz asked us
"Couldn't stop them from taking the Fridge, but we weren't gonna let Garrett walk, not after what he did" I said
"Is he one that did this to you two?" Skye asked
"He was a tough son of a bitch" Ward told her
"Was? Past tense?" May questioned
"As soon as I had upper hand, I put three in the back of his hand" Grant told them
"Good" Fitz replied
"One from me, one from Maddie" Ward started and looked to Trip "One from you"
"I would have emptied the mag" Trip told him
"Agreed" I said
"You're all set" Simmons told Ward "Well, i mean, as set as you can be with two cracked ribs and a zygomatic fracture"
"Uh, for those you that don't know what that is" Fitz started
"That's a hairline fracture to the cheekbone" Trip and Fitz said at the same time
"Your body needs time to heal" Simmons said to Ward then turned to me "And you. Please, take some time"
"Understood. Thanks" Grant replied
"Fine" I said
"One small victory, Hydra didn't get their hands on this" Ward told Skye pulling out the hard drive
"A hard drive?" Trip questioned
"It's all the research our team's ever done, downloaded off the plane and encrypted for safekeeping" Skye explained to him
"We should probably back it up now that we're in a secure facility" I suggested
"First, Skye, I need you on threat assessment" Coulson told her
~Time Skip~
"All right. Just gonna need you guys to answer a few questions. A few psychoanalytic non-sequitur questions" Koenig explained, as he was showing off a lie detector
'Shit' I thought to myself
"A lie detector?" Coulson asked
"The lie detector, Agent Coulson. This baby measures galvanic skin response, oxygen consumption, micro expressions, biofeedback brain waves, pupil dilation, voice biometrics, ninety six variables in all. Fury designed this himself, he wanted a lie detector Romanoff couldn't beat"
"Did she?" I asked, Koenig scoffed
"Like Fury would tell"
"Ok, sooner we get this done, sooner we can get to work. So what wants to go first?" Coulson asked
~Time Skip~
"We're gonna start with some easy questions and establish a baseline, can i have your full name?" Koenig asked
"Maddison Evelyne Hunter" I answered
"Eye color?" He asked
"Blue"
"You ever been married?"
"No"
"Please, list your immediate family"
"My mum, dad and 1 brother"
"What's the difference between an egg and rock?"
"One weapon, one food"
"Have you ever heard of Project Insight?"
"Nope"
"Ever had any contact with Alexander Pierce?"
"Garrett would get a phone call from him once and awhile" I answered
"You wash up on a deserted island alone. Sitting on the sand is a box. What is in that box?"
"A knife"
"S.H.I.E.L.D. no longer exists. The Agency has been labeled a terrorist organization. So, why are you here?"
"Ward"
"Congratulations, Agent Hunter. Let's go get you a lanyard" Koenig said, I got up from my seat and he handed me a lanyard
"Thanks" I said and walked out as Ward was waiting outside "Got my backstage pass"
"Piece of cake?" He asked
"If you don't mind talking about yourself. So, you'll hate it" I told him, he sighed "Have fun" I said sarcastically and i walked away
~Time Skip~
A couple hours later, the rest of the team had left, as me, Ward, Skye, May and Koenig were left at the base, I walked up the buses cargo ramp as i slipped my gun into the back of my leggings and walked deeper into the bus looking for May
I walked upstairs and saw May by the bunks "How's it coming? Is the bus operational?"
"Still banged up, but she's ready to fly. The fuel line's repaired and the tank's full" May told me
"What's the range on this thing?" I asked
"Just under 10,000 miles" She told me and turned around, I went to pull out the gun until she grabbed a bag from her bunk and started to walk away
"Are you leaving?" I asked, and she stop and looked at me
"Yeah. I was here for Coulson, but he can't see past me lying to him"
"I get why you did it, when you get orders, you don't question them. You follow them. No matter the price"
"Yeah, well this price was too high. I lost him. Coulson doesn't want me here, he doesn't need me" And she walked away
~Time Skip~
I was back in the base and as I was walking down one of the hallways "Maddison!" Ward yelled from behind me,I stopped walking and turned around to look at him confused
"Yeah?" I asked, as he walked towards me
"Where's Skye?" He asked
"I don't know" I replied
"Did you kill her?" He asked
"No, no of course not" I told him "Why what's wrong?"
"Just go to the bus and wait in my bunk" He told me
"Why? What did you do?" I asked
"Just go" He said and kissed me on the cheek and walked away, I listened to what he said and walked towards the hangar and went back up the bus ramp
