A Little Sore

Once again, Manifold's hands started glowing. The sparks and flickers of dying flames followed suit. Why were they getting brighter too?
"Theseus, get here now!!" The two demonic heroes ran towards each other, Theseus being thrown under the weight of Halo as they frantically braced for impact.

There was a loud bang.

Theseus stirred at a soft beeping. Intense throbbing dragged him from sleep and into a waking world of stiff limbs and a sore body. The blonde rookie groaned, stretching his body and squinting at the fluorescent lights glaring at him.
"The fuck, man?" He mumbled through semi-consciousness. He slowly lifted himself, propping his back up against the wall. This place was familiar, somehow. It was a struggle to get a good look, due to the beaming white of everything around. The overwhelming glare gave Theseus trouble opening his eyes without feeling as though he was staring at thousands of suns. After a few strained and uncomfortable moments, Theseus was able to open his eyes enough to take in his surroundings. He shut his eyes again and let his head hit the wall. "Fuck me upside down," the hero moaned. "If I wrack up a reputation as 'the hero always in the hospital ward', I think I'll literally just die of embarrassment." A familiar face peaked around the corner.
"Oh, Theseus! Nice to see you again!" The peppy young frog opened the door wider and stepped into the ward.
"Nice to see you too, Boomer."

"Theseus! Are you okay?" A hero dressed in a familiar blue uniform rushed up to the rookie and squeezed him tightly. "I was so worried when those vigilantes told us what happened! I swear to Prime, Manifold better hope I don't see him around or I'll–"
"Phantom, please." Theseus's strained voice silenced the older hero. "I appreciate you worrying, but you're hurting me." The ghostly hero released the younger instantly.
"Ah, shit, Sorry!" Theseus laughed lightly over his aching bones.
"Now that Phantom has had a moment to calm himself," Aeolus perched himself on the end of Theseus's bed. "Are you alright, Theseus? How do you feel?" Even as a hero, Aeolus' fatherly nature shone through the mask and the veil. His tone was gentle and soft as a feather. There was no obligation to reply, but Theseus always wanted to answer that voice.
"I'm real stiff and sore, but I'm fine aside from that. Oh yeah, and there's still a few cuts in places, I've noticed."
"I'll get–"
"Fucking hell!"

Silence ensnared the group like a net of thick wire. "Uh, sorry, I-I just didn't see you get here," Theseus muttered as he glowed red with embarrassment. The healer simply nodded as Boomer stepped in beside him. "Um, you're TimeKeeper, right?" Again, the hero nodded.
"I apologise that you aren't completely healed. Balaclava is on a mission with The Warden, so I have been tasked with healing both of you. Boomer also did an excellent job healing your wrist and Halo's leg." Boomer blushed and wrung his hands at the compliment. He glanced down to avoid crumbling under Phantom's smile, rocking back and forth on his feet.
"Many thanks to the both of you. I must say, your healing abilities are quite tremendous, Boomer," Aeolus smiled gratefully. The frog healer stopped rocking, locking eyes with the winged hero infront of him. Then he flapped his hands and looked away again.
"Th-Thank you, Aeolus. I really appreciate that." Aeolus smiled once more. Boomer was young and ambitious. The veteran hero believed the healer had a bright future ahead of him. Something in Theseus' mind clicked.
"Wait.."

Theseus hesitated as all eyes locked onto him. "Phantom, did you say something about vigilantes earlier?" A pause hung in the air as gazes fixed on Phantom. Theseus felt a little bad. Phantom didn't like it when all eyes were on him like this.
"Oh, yeah, I did," he began. "Aeolus and I rushed to the scene as soon as we heard about the explosion. We were assigned to evacuate people and search for casualties, but we were stopped by this trio of vigilantes.

"Oi, Phantom! Aeolus!" A trio of unfamiliar masked teens made their way towards us, covered in dust and soot.
"What the hell are you three doing here!? This is a dangerous battle site!" Aeolus warned, becoming the parent to vigilantes once more.
"We know, but you can do more than we can!" The one doing all the talking was a bee of purple hair. "We were looking under all the rubble for people to help you heroes with the whole process, and we found Theseus and Halo. We got them away from the worst of it all, but they're hurt pretty bad. Halo was on top of Theseus, so he took the brunt of the blow. He's in really shitty shape. He needs a healer as soon as possible."
"I've done all I can with all the energy I had," the red panda chimed in. He was visibly exhausted. "But he still needs professional attention."
"Lead the way!" I demanded before the conversation could continue. As the three did their best to guide us at an urgent speed, Aeolus spoke:
"Hey, what are your names?" He asked.
"Mine's SquiggleZip!" The bee smiled.
"1stAdeKit!" The red panda followed, sporting a similar grin.
"ViperStrike," the snake added. They were certainly the quietest. Their name was the first thing they'd said so far.

"They got us to you and moved on to do more damage control while we got you back here."
"I suppose that does make sense," TimeKeeper muttered.
"How so?" Aeolus asked. TimeKeeper glanced at Theseus.
"When Boomer and I were healing you two, we both noticed the remnants of an unfamiliar healer's energy. It seems this 1stAdeKit reduced some of the severe gashes to manageable cuts. He seems strong. He certainly has potential." Theseus simply raised his eyebrows as Aeolus smiled at the thought. "Anyway," the healer began. "This concludes my business for now. I will return shortly. Phantom, Aeolus, you are welcome to remain here. Theseus will likely be able to leave tonight, so you don't need to worry about excuses."

"Techno? We're home!" Phil called as he stepped into the warmth of the house. Theseus pressed his hands against his scarlet cheeks, but they offered no warmth. Wilbur shivered as they pushed their curly brown hair from their face. Phil took a lung full of the warm air of his home.
"Just in time. Head into the living room, I'll be there in a second." Technoblade sounded completely calm. It was as though it were a regular day. Except, that wasn't quite it. This type of calm was Technoblade's "you're in trouble" tone. As the three made their way into the living room, they found the final of the home's inhabitants sitting on the sofa. Her eyes widened as she saw the trio.
"Oh, Prime! You boys really are soaked!" She rose from her seat. "You three get comfy, I'll go find you some things." As she passed each one of the drenched three, she gave them a kiss on the forehead. She then rushed up the stairs as the boys settled.
"Bless you," Wilbur shuddered as Tommy's face scrunched up. After a moment of building tension, it relaxed.
"Wilbur, you dickhead! You chased it away!" The roudy blonde threw a cushion at his lanky sibling, who simply howled with laughter. Phil sighed among the chaos.

"Alright." Technoblade stepped into the room. In his hands he held a tray bearing four mugs of steaming cocoa. One was topped with marshmallows and another with whipped cream. Technoblade's chocolate brown hair swept down his back. Not quite neat but not quite messy. His golden rimmed glasses sat halfway down his nose and steamed up against the heat of the cocoa he was holding. Chestnut eyes calmly moved from Tommy, to Phil, to Wilbur, back to Phil, back to Tommy, back to Wilbur. A cotton tunic hung loosely around his body, paired with loose cargo pants ending at the knees. Pink slippers accompanied white socks. Technoblade handed out the drinks- the one with marshmallows going to Tommy and the one with whipped cream going to Wilbur. As Technoblade opened his mouth to begin, a bundle of various things was carried through the door.
"Here we are!" She smiled. Technoblade swiftly rose and strode over to assist.
"Here, Mumza, let me give you a hand." She thankfully handed some of the load to Technoblade. The two handed out towels, clothes and blankets.
"You've outdone yourself once more, Kristin." Phil smiled as he took his things from her. Kristin smiled back once more. She appeared tired. Attempting to overcompensate for that, by the looks of it. You don't bring that up with Kristin. You leave her alone. Phil will ask her when they go to bed. Sometimes she and Technoblade talk when the rest are out doing God knows what.

"So," Technoblade began. "Why the hell were you out so late? And in the pouring rain? I told you the forecast, didn't I? You all knew it was going to rain." Phil let out a sigh.
"I know, mate. We just forgot about it." Wilbur let out a sneeze that silenced the room. Then he turned a deep crimson.
"For the love of Prime." A heavy sigh. "Wilbur, do you want a thicker blanket?" Wilbur shook their head. "You know you're prone to the cold–"
"I'm fine, Techno, honestly," the tall brunette interrupted through his shivers.
"No. You are not." Wilbur shrivelled into his towel and blanket coccoon. Technoblade sighed, then continued in a quieter tone. "As the eldest, you know I–"
"You're only four minutes older than Wilbur!" Tommy chirped in, flicking his tail. He went quiet upon the glare he received.
"Those four minutes really made the difference on maturity, huh?" Wilbur smirked to themself in response to the remark. Technoblade wasn't being horrible. He had just been worried. He'd been pacing for half an hour. Kristin had assured him that it was okay– they'd be home any minute, but Technoblade doesn't work that way. If he wants to stop worrying about someone, he needs to see that they're okay, not hear it. The older twin continued to (somehow calmly) rant at his brothers and father, being interrupted by occasional banter. Eventually, it turned into light hearted chatter, the rain thundering impatiently against the windows. Wilbur was laughed at with every sneeze. Technoblade only wondered where they had been. It wasn't as though he would be told the truth, anyway. Technoblade was... well, he was never a big hero fan.
