Chapter 9: Altercations

(Arya)

"Why didn't you tell me?" "Because I knew how you would react. And besides I didn't think it was worth telling." I had told Leo what happened the previous week at Adrian's place. "You didn't think it was worth telling? He flashed you Arya to get a reaction out of you and to piss me off because he knew you would tell me." I was frustrated and I knew I should have kept my mouth closed. But I was comfortable with Leo and I knew I could trust him, so I told him everything. He always wanted to know things anyway.. especially after what happened to me. "Leo we're getting married soon and there are going to be times when I see him naked and vice versa." Leo was really angry now and he didn't like the fact that another man had to look at my body. "Are you fucking crazy Arya!? Do you know what just came out of your fucking mouth!?"

I was a little intimidated by him. Leo had never got this angry with me or even raised his voice at me. He was pacing back in forth in my room trying to calm himself down. I was sitting on the edge of the bed and I was a little scared. "I know you didn't want to hear that Leo but it's true. I don't even want to marry the guy, I don't even know him." Leo laughed an angry laugh, "I'm going to kill him." I jumped to my feet and approached Leo and tried calming him down. "No you're not going to do that. Leo you can't just kill everyone that makes you angry." "The hell I can't!" He was still shouting. "Leo please calm down." He pushed me and I stumbled back onto the bed. I was shocked that Leo would even touch me in such a way. I don't think he realized what he had done because he was still pacing back and forth.

At this point I was angry too. "I shouldn't have even told you. There's no reason for you to be mad, we're not even together Leo!" He stopped in his tracks and he clenched his jaw in anger. "Oh so you're playing that game?" He approached me and his face was so close to mine. His breath tickled my ear as he spoke. "I'm the only one who gets to fuck you Arya. Understand?" My breathing quickened and I was speechless. I didn't realize I was shaking until Leo put his hands on my arms. "You're shaking." I snatched my arms away from him and turned so my back was facing him. He stood closer to me and I could feel every inch of his body. I was still pissed and I didn't want him anywhere near me. "Leave Leo." I told him. He stood there for awhile and then realized I was serious. I didn't turn around until I heard him leave the room.

I sat at the dinner table with my family. For the first time I ate dinner with my family. They had always had dinner without me, mostly because I ate in my room. I hated having dinner with my family but my father made me eat with them because they had arranged for Adrian to have dinner with us. My sister Audrey was drooling all over Adrian the moment he arrived. "How many tats do you have Adrian?" She asked, batting her eyelashes at him. "Uh.. too many to count." He said smiling at her and she couldn't help but blush. I rolled my eyes, he's not even that great. Yes he's hot but he has a really big ego and his personality makes him less attractive.

My mother emerged from the kitchen with a bowl of salad and a plate of bread. My father followed behind her with a pot of spaghetti and a bottle of wine. They sat everything down and Audrey instantly started pilling her plate with food. We weren't the type of family to pray before we ate. This family doesn't believe in God, or any god for that matter. "So Adrian, tell us a little bit about your family." My mother said. Adrian took a sip of wine before responding to her. "Well, I'm the only child. My father passed away when I was 8 years old. My mother suffered from depression because of the loss and she started doing pills and was in and out of rehab for years. She's no longer an addict and is doing well." My mother gave him a sympathetic smile.

"I'm so glad she's doing better. And I'm so sorry for your loss." "Don't be sorry, my dad was an asshole and didn't care about the family." Ha! That's where he gets his personality from. "Oh I'm so sorry to hear that. Well this family gets along well and you are going to fit right in." Is she fucking kidding me right now? A sarcastic laugh escaped my lips on accident and everyone eyes were on me. I cleared my throat and reached for my glass of wine to take a sip avoiding their eyes. "I think Arya is perfect for you." My father said wiping his mouth with a napkin. I glanced up at him and frowned. He gave me a "behave" glare before stabbing at his salad on his plate with his fork. "Arya aren't you going to say anything?" My mother asked. "What is there to say?" I say with an attitude.

Leo and I hadn't talked since yesterday after our little altercation. I would be lying if I said I didn't miss him. I couldn't stop thinking about him so I had to text him. *Hey.* I didn't know what else to say but hey. Thirty minutes went by before he responded. *hi.* That was it, just "hi"? The three little dots popped up in the left corner of the screen indicating that he was typing. They were there for awhile before they disappeared. I waited to see if they would reappear but nothing happened. I gave up and shut my phone off. I threw myself on my bed and just stared at my ceiling.

My phone buzzed and I quickly reached for it but was instantly disappointed. It wasn't who I wanted it to be, instead it was that asshole Adrian. *Your mother gave me your number.* Ugh why would she do that. *Cool.* I responded dryly. He had read the message but didn't respond. Didn't really care anyway.

I ended up taking a two hour nap. I woke up to the sound of my phone ringing. It was Leo calling me and I instantly answered it. "Leo.. um h-hi." "Arya I wanted to apologize for how I acted yesterday. Is it alright if I stop by?" "Of course." After hanging up the phone I got up to brush my teeth and take a quick shower. By the time I was out the shower Leo had arrived and I quickly went down the stairs, opened the door and lead him to my room before my parents could find out. "I'm sorry Arya, I didn't mean to hurt you yesterday. I just can't stand the fact that you're married to someone else. I don't want to have to think about you sleeping with another man." I could understand where he was coming from.I didn't want him being married to another women. I didn't want him having sex with another women or waking up in the same bed next to her.

"I really didn't have a choice Leo and you know that." "I know, I know. I'm used to you being with me all the time and now you have to give your time to some other man." I sighed. "Look I don't like him as much as you don't but there's nothing I can really do." He stood closer to me and kissed me softly on the forehead. "Just know I'm sorry Arya." I wrapped my arms around him and gave him a hug. We hugged for a few seconds before he let go to look me in my eyes. "Promise me you won't fall in love with him. Promise me that Arya." He looked sad. "I'm promise Leo." After long hugs and more talking Leo had to leave.

I walked with him downstairs to the front door. He started to kiss me on the lips when all of a sudden someone spoke from behind me. "You're not supposed to be here." The voice was deep and it didn't sound like my father's. Leo's jaw clenched and he had his hands balled into a fist. That's when I realized who it was. I turned to see Adrian leaning against the stair railing with a glass of bourbon in his hand. "Adrian this is none of your business." I told him. "It kind of is, after all you are my fiancé." This made Leo mad and he stepped in front of me. "Look man I don't know what your problem is but I suggest you mind your fucking business." Adrian propped himself up off the railing and sat his glass down on the small table next to the stairs. "Or what?" Leo was about to swing on him but I grabbed his arm before he could. "Stop it Leo." I said. That didn't stop Adrian from throwing a punch.

Leo stumbled back and I had let his arm go. I gasped when Leo stood up and punched him back. At that point they were fighting and were knocking things over. Glass was shattered and tables were knocked over. My father, mother and sister came rushing down the stairs to see what was going on. My father was angry when he saw who were fighting. He rushed over to them and pushed both men off of each other. "What the hell is going on!" I stood there frozen and couldn't find the words to speak. "Why the hell are you in my house after I told you not to ever come back here!" My father shouted at Leo. Leo had a busted lip and was spitting blood. Adrian had a swollen eye and was sucking the blood from his bruised knuckles.

My father glanced towards me, "You. You caused this didn't you?" "I-." He cut me off. "Why do you always disobey me!" Um one because no one in the this family cares about anything and two because I'm a fucking adult and I can handle myself. But of course I didn't say that to him, I just stood there silent. "That's it, you're going to stay with Adrian. You done staying here!." My eyes widened when he said that and I finally got the words to speak. "What? No!" "It wasn't a fucking question Arya, it was a command." My father said angrily.
