Jinx's cackle echoed distantly as the shark bomb hit the Council building. Caitlyn buried her face in Vi's chest, refusing to watch the explosion. She shrunk further into the crimson jacket as the loud burst rattled her eardrums. Vi could feel her sobbing and wrapped her arms around Caitlyn, gently rocking her in her arms. In the distance, Jinx's shadow disappeared on the horizon
"Cupcake... I am so sorry..."
The Kiramann's eyes gazed up into the Zaunite's.
"We must find my mother... she may still be alive...", Caitlyn choked out in between the stream of tears now steadily rolling down her face. Vi nodded and pulled Caitlyn to her feet, gently gripping her waist. The pair began their journey, clambering along rooftops and balconies. Throughout the climbing, Vi would not let go of Caitlyn, who was trembling in fear and grief and struggling to balance herself.
Eventually, Vi couldn't stand to see her cupcake struggle any longer, and at the edge of the bomb's destruction, she took Caitlyn's hand and gently pulled the sorrowful woman into a partially blown building. The dining room remained intact, and Cait lay down in the corner, vi shakily wrapping her jacket around a now sobbing Kiramann. Vi stroked her fingers through Caitlyn's hair, gently hushing her until the head of blue hair rested against Vi's chest. She knew that Cait wanted to push forward, but she also knew that neither of them had the strength to do so.
Vi sighed and wrapped her arms tightly around a sleeping Cait, kissing her forehead. "I'm right here cupcake," She murmured before giving into her ache to sleep. The pair rested, intertwined with each other, as the red moon shone above, as if it reflected the freshly spilt blood.
