Vi finished packing Caitlyn's large, bulky backpack with their few belongings. Ekko had finally spotted a safe point for the women to get across to the safety of Piltover. They knew it was risky but had to attempt to reach Caitlyn's home for the sake of Amythest. Vi took off her usual jacket and wrapped a cloth around her undershirt to carry her now 2-month-old.
"Vi?"
Vi turned around to face the gentle voice. Caitlyn, who had been keeping an eye on Amythest, sat nervously at the end of the bed.
"What's the matter, Cupcake? You're going home soon!"
Caitlyn looked down at her feet.
"Are you... sure you are okay with our daughter being raised a piltie?"
The corner of Vi's mouth smirked. She sauntered over to Caitlyn and sat down next to her.
"Cait, you were raised a piltie yet you are the kindest, sweetest, most humble person I know. As long as you're there to teach Amy how to be one of the good pilties, I'm happy."
Caitlyn blushed. Vi gently kissed her forehead before standing up and holding out the backpack.
"We should get going, Ekko will need us at any minute. Here's your backpack, I'll take our little gem now."
Caitlyn stood up and handed Amythest off to Vi, sliding the backpack onto her shoulders. Vi rested the baby in the small pouch she'd made to hold her. Amythest looked up at vi, tilting her tiny head curiously. Vi smiled and leaned her head down, whispering.
"We're going to our new home now, Amy. Stay quiet for us, okay?"
As if she understood Vi, Amythest closed her eyes and curled against her mother's chest, falling asleep. Vi looked over to Caitlyn, nodding.
"Let's go."

The Pilt river reflected the dim moonlight of the dark midnight. 3 silhouettes cautiously moved along it. They reached a small boat crafted from scraps of metal. "Take this across the river. According to my timer you have just under 15 minutes to get across before the guards return. Hurry. Good luck.", Ekko whispered. Vi patted Ekko on the back.
"Thanks for everything, little man."
Caitlyn grabbed the oar and took her place at the front of the boat. Vi got in behind her, the weight of the atlas gauntlets strapped to her back slightly tilting the boat. Caitlyn wasted no time getting the boat moving across the water. 12 minutes left. The night was bitter cold, and Caitlyn could hear the chatter of Vi's teeth. Vi had wrapped her arms around the sleeping baby in the pouch, trying to keep her as warm as possible.
They'd gotten halfway across the river without any problem. 6 minutes remaining. They were just barely going to make it. Caitlyn ferociously ripped the paddle through the water, panting. We're almost there, breathe Cait, she thought to herself. The stone walkway was just yards away. 60 seconds. Realizing how dangerously close they were, Vi whispered frantically, "Hurry, they'll be back any second." The intense pounding of Caitlyn's heart became louder and louder. She thought about what would happen if they didn't make it. She pushed the image of the three of them laying dead, sniped in seconds, away from her mind. 15 seconds. Amy was starting to whimper from the cold. Vi quickly tried to comfort her. If she cried their cover would be blown. 5 seconds.
The boat reached the docks moments before the guards were set to return to their posts. Vi and Cait leaped out of the boat, hurrying up the steps into Piltover. The small family was safe... or so they thought. Atop the highest point of the nearby bridge, a pair of glowing pink eyes watched like a wolf stalking it's prey.
