Himeru- Big brother, are you done yet?
She stood halfway through the door with her small head and her het hands to the doorknob. Inside the room, Haruki was working on an acrylic painting of the moon with realistic stars floating around the deathining eerie sky. Haruki slicked his forehead with his hand from trying hard not to mess up and turning to his little sister with a kind grin.
Haruki- Almost Himeru. Why don't you come in and watch?
A glimmering smile delighted her face as she rushed inside the brilliant lit room and stared at the painting. Haruki went over to the sink to wash his hands of the dark paint.
Haruki- I can take a break for now.
Himeru- What is this art about?
Her voice became soft and and curious.
Haruki- Well...
He rested himself unto the windowsill where it was fitted for others to sit on when thinking. A place of peace. Himeru sat on his lap awaiting for her big brother to answer.
Haruki- I see it as infinity. There's no end in space.
Himeru's face became confused.
Himeru- what is infinity?
Haruki grinned kindly.
Haruki- infinity is something that goes on forever and never stops Himeru.
Himeru- so the stars are going to live infinity?
Haruki shook his head.
Haruki- no. All stars die out after a long time. We're just never around to see it long enough.
Himeru- does that mean we are all going to die?
Haruki- Himeru!! Don't say something like that! It's not right...
Himeru's large eyes evened.
Himeru- Im sorry...big brother...
She wrapped her skinny arms around Haruki's arm and settled her head unto his chest.
Haruki- it's alright... you're only asking because you're young and you have a wondering mind.
He praised Himeru's head softly with a guilty expression.
Haruki- why don't we play a game you like this time?
Himeru let out an excited gasp and soon after did she searched for a piece of paper and pencil-along with a notebook.
Himeru- I want to play Hang Man.
Haruki-...
He stared at her with stunned eyes. He was always disturbed by that game. You guess the letters of a word or phrase and for every letter you get incorrect, a piece of a stick figure of a man gets placed on a line that signified the rope. If you loose, then the entire character gets hanged. The entire idea itself of the game is guessing and fearing. Haruki inhaled a long breath and let out his worries.
Haruki- Alright. If that's what my little sister wants, then I'll play with you.
Himeru drew the lines for each missing letter and the hanging stage.
Himeru- guess the letters big brother.
Her tiny feet swung back and forth waiting with a shining smile.
Haruki- umm...U?
Himeru checked the lines but shook her head.
Himeru- No.
She drew a simple circle of a head to the hanging while humming joyfully.
Haruki- this is going to take a while.
