Brady and I stayed at the beach until sundown. Everyone had left. It was now 11PM and neither of us wanted to leave. We were laying down on the sand, looking up at the night sky, in silence. For the first time in my life, I broke the silence. "Brady, truth or dare?" I asked, turning my head to his. He laughed and looked at me. Our faces were inches apart. "Truth." He said. I thought about it for a second. "Have you... ever been in love?" I asked. He sighed. "Once. Seventh grade. Her name was Mia and I.... I was down bad for her." He said, a tone of sadness in his voice. "What happened?" I asked. He sighed. "You know, the usual. Guy likes a girl, girl plays with his heart, girl cheats on the guy." He said. "Oh my god, Brady. I'm so sorry." I said. "Nah, it's fine. I don't care about that anymore, I'm over it." He turned over to me. "I found someone else I really like these past two weeks though." He said, smiling.
Holy shit. I've been here for the past two weeks. Could he mean me? No. That was crazy, that would never happen. My heart was racing. "Oh, um... who?" I asked him. He laughed. "Come on. We both know the answer to that." He said, smiling at me. Okay, play dumb. "Brady what are you talking about?" I said, laughing nervously. "You know who I'm talking about. She has long dark brown hair, beautiful brown eyes, an amazing personality. I'm talking about you, Y/n."
OH MY GOD. WHAT. My eyes widened. "Oh my God, Brady, what?!" I asked. He laughed. "I like you, Y/n. I really do. But listen, if the feeling isn't mutual, then I completely underst-" He started, but I cut him off. "Shut up." I said, and that was when I kissed him. He kissed back, and then the next hour was a blur.
We ran to my hotel room, laughing, an hour later. He grabbed my waist at the top of the stairs, leaning in. As we kissed, I felt like I won. I did it. I finally got my dream boy to like me back. And this wasn't just some random boy. It was Brady. As we pulled away, I said, "Brady, why did you choose to tell me this the day before I leave?" He looked down at the ground then back at me. "Because I didn't know if you liked me back, and then it would be really awkward." He said. I laughed. "Well now you know." I said, smiling. I don't remember what happened that night after that.
I got up early, alone in my bed, in my hotel room. I got ready to go to the airport, and I finished packing my suitcase. As I walked into the kitchen, all of a sudden I heard a knock at the door. I opened it, to find Brady standing there. "Brady, hey. What are you doing here?" I asked, giving him a hug. He smiled. "I talked to your parents, and I'm going to the airport with you, you know, to say bye." He explained. I smiled. "You'd do that?" I asked, wrapping my arms around his neck. He smiled, saying, "mhm" and kissing me.
After a minute of us kissing, I heard someone start giggling behind us. I pulled away and spun around. Savannah was standing there, holding in laughter. "Sav, what the hell?!" I said to her, annoyed as fuck. She kept laughing. "God, get a room or something." She said, walking into the bathroom, still laughing.
We got to the airport, and it was time to say goodbye. I was crying at this point, Brady kept reassuring me that everything is going to be okay. We kissed until Savannah said, "Y/n, time to go." I pulled away from Brady, our foreheads still touching. He was on the verge of crying as well. "I love you." He whispered, smiling. I smiled back. "I love you too, Brady." I whispered. I gave him another big hug and started walking away. "I miss you already!" Brady said as I was walking away. I turned around to see him waving, mouthing 'I love you'. I smiled, mouthing, 'I love you too.'
